Philanthropy is an opportunity to answer the call to work in God's vineyard. Often times, I feel like I am outside of my comfort zone in what I am being asked to do; however, I have learned to just say yes, and see where journey takes me. Dr. Tammy Tenaglia, CFGP Board of Trustees #CFGPWIP2020

Last year, our Women in Philanthropy Leadership Fund awarded a $5,000 grant to Cranaleith Spiritual Center. Cranaleith is located in Northeast Philadelphia and is a sponsored work of the Sisters of Mercy. This nonprofit organization focuses on offering a peaceful, rejuvenating space for those seeking to renew their spirit for life and work, or restore themselves from life’s traumas. Cranaleith is also home to spiritual retreats ever year from organizations across our area. CFGP’s $5,000 grant enabled Cranaleith to host a Women Veterans retreat in 2019. The Women in Philanthropy Leadership Fund continues to make grants to nonprofit organizations each year. Working in the nonprofit world, I know that my hard work has a purpose and a greater meaning beyond the job. I know that I am helping, in some small way, to make a difference in our city and am impacting lives of those in need. I feel honored that I play a role in helping people. My job has also allowed me to meet amazing people and learn from their years of service and passion. I feel inspired when I come to work and for that, I am grateful! CFGP Board of Trustees member, Ms. Cynthia A. Brown, shares a moving testimonial on the importance of philanthropy. We encourage each of you to take the time to read her poignant words. As Cynthia says, it’s up to us to make a difference in the world. At CFGP, we strive to make our community a better place for all. As we continue to focus on the importance of women in philanthropy, and read Cynthia’s impactful testimonial, we ask you to consider a gift to CFGP’s Women in Philanthropy Leadership Fund, so that we may continue to create grants that support women-led organizations, or organizations that support women’s needs. Did you know? In 2018, the Women in Philanthropy Leadership Fund was created to make grants to Catholic, women-led or women-supporting organizations. At our 2018 Women in Philanthropy event, the Fund awarded its first grant of $6,000 to the Gianna Center of Philadelphia. The Gianna Center of Philadelphia is part of a national network of Gianna Centers that provides gynecologic care and infertility treatments to women while honoring the sanctity of life, the dignity of women, ...and the integrity of marriage. The Women in Philanthropy Leadership Fund’s grant allowed the Center to purchase medical equipment for their Philadelphia location, which was brand new that year. The Women in Philanthropy Leadership Fund continues to make grants thanks to the generous support of its donors. I have been working in the non-profit sector for over 8 years and there is no other place I would rather be. Working in philanthropy is so important because I can help make a direct difference in our local Catholic community. When I get the opportunity to meet our beneficiaries and interact with them there is no more rewarding feeling. Knowing that I can help them, even in a small way makes my decision to work for a non-profit that more important. Our Annual Women in Phi...lanthropy Event looks a bit different this year, but we still want to bring women together, women who dedicate their time, talent, and treasure to serving others. Each year, more and more women are becoming involved in philanthropy and at CFGP, we know how important women’s roles are to help shape our community and to make a greater influence in our region. Philanthropy should be a part of all our lives, especially as Catholics. We are helping to form our future and support future generations. All of us, men and women alike, are called by God to love and assist our neighbor especially those who are less fortunate than we are--with the gifts with which we have been endowed. Our purpose in life is to fulfill this desire within us, and God enlightens our hearts and souls with the talents necessary. It is our duty!
