March 12, 2020 2020 Lehigh Valley Auto Show and Gala postponed indefinitely as Lehigh University prohibits gatherings of more than 100 on its campus To all con...stituents of the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association and the Lehigh Valley Auto Show: We are saddened to have to report that we are indefinitely postponing the 2020 Lehigh Valley Auto Show and Gala. To protect the health and safety of its community and to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Lehigh University yesterday took the extraordinary step of prohibiting gatherings of over 100 individuals on its campuses. As the Lehigh Valley Auto Show is held at Lehigh University’s Goodman Campus, the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association respects and agrees with Lehigh’s decision and is therefore indefinitely postponing the 2020 Lehigh Valley Auto Show and Gala. The indefinite postponement will give the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association board of directors and auto show committee time to investigate possibilities for holding the show at a future date. The 2020 Lehigh Valley Auto Show was scheduled to take place Thursday, March 19 through Sunday, March 22. The preview gala was to be held Wednesday evening, March 18, from 6 to 10 p.m., to benefit Good Shepherd Pediatrics. According to a letter sent from Lehigh University president John D. Simon, To encourage social distancing during this time, in addition to implementing remote coursework, all non-essential gatherings of 25 or more people are strongly discouraged, and events for 100 or more individuals are prohibited. Though as the show organizers we are disappointed and saddened to have to postpone indefinitely an event that so many in our community look forward to, we understand and agree with Lehigh’s decision. The Lehigh Valley Auto Show is our association’s biggest fundraiser with proceeds going to nonprofit organizations in the Lehigh Valley region. In addition, the auto show gala raises at least $25,000 for one organization. This year’s recipient is Good Shepherd pediatrics. Individuals who hold online tickets to the auto show may choose to have their tickets refunded or may choose to have the money donated to gala recipient Good Shepherd Pediatrics. If making a donation is chosen, the donor will also receive a free ticket to next year’s show. Ticket holders will receive an email so that they can indicate their choice. Anyone who purchased a gala ticket will be contacted directly by the auto dealers association.
