International Day of Education In 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming January 24 as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education in one day achieving global peace and sustainable development for all. The last year has challenged us all educationally, and has shed new light on inequitable access to education an education technology. UNESCO and partners have spearheaded the Learning Planet Festival to celebrate... learning in all contexts and share innovations that fulfil the potential of every learner, no matter what their circumstances. Join us on The Glen Mills Schools' campus next Saturday, January 30th for a contactless food drive. Thanks to the generous public, we continue to collect food to stock Delaware County food pantries. Covid has had a devastating effect on hunger, and this is an easy and convenient way to give back. Just pop your trunk! See you there!
The Glen Mills Schools is having a blood drive on Thursday, January 21st. We are proud to report that since the pandemic started, we have had 12 successful drives! These blood drives yielded 360 pints of blood which will go on to help save the lives of about 1,000 local hospital patients! Way to go community!!!
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.-Martin Luther King Jr. Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Born on January 15th, 1929, he became an influential civil rights leader and played a key role in the American Civil Rights Movement. In remembrance of his profound contribution to the world, may we honor his sacrifices by living our lives with resolve to overcome social inequity, and by building our communities according to his inclusive dream. We would like to take a moment to wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2021. Happy New Year from The Glen Mills Schools!

December 3rd marks the observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This day Aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life (United Nations). It is also a celebration of triumph in the face of adversity. Perseverance is not an option for people with disabilities, it is a way of life. Use this day to celebrate the lives of people who have and will continue to accomplish great things, regardless of circumstance. Let it help us understand that adversity is an experience we all share, and overcoming it is something that must be done together.
