In the July issue of Philadelphia Magazine, TPS preschool teacher Mary Beth McNeish Fedirko reminds us all of "Six Ways To Be A Good Friend For Life" http://ow.ly/NFJn50Ar6ao

"At TPS, Black Lives Matter is not a catchphrase, but a belief that is reflected in our curriculum and teaching." In a letter sent to parents at the end of May, our Head of School, Lisa Sun, reflected upon the history of systemic racism, its violent impact on Black Americans, and the protests that followed the death of Mr. George Floyd. In her letter, she included a list of resources for parents to aid them in talking to children about race and racism. Knowing these conversa...tions need to happen not just within our community, we decided to share them with a larger audience with the hope that they can encourage discussions among families outside of TPS. As stated in our strategic vision, "we are resolved to take our commitment to diversity beyond [our] families, by both studying and serving our neighborhoods, our city, and our nation. We know we can’t afford complacency or isolation." More than ever, we remain committed to our mission of educating children for a future that is impossible to know but not impossible to shape.
