The Quiet Circus 30.10.2020

We are excited to share with you The Quiet Circus Blog. Here you will find a conversation about art as experience, and art as a form of thinking predicated on the agency of those who touch it. Click below for the most recent post - a short film about The River Charrettes, which re-contextualize the discoveries and values of the weekly practice at river sites throughout Philadelphia. This is just the beginning... If you would like to get an email update whenever we share a new post, click the "Subscribe" button on the blog header.

Never made it to the Washington Ave Pier? Came 12 times and can't get enough? We will be sharing the Island score - one of the three animating components of The Quiet Circus - this Wednesday at 7:30pm in the Open Hand Open Space performance series. Hope to see you there!

We have been returning to the pier every week for 9 of the last 15 months. You have jogged by, stopped to watch or play, walked silently with us, made refuges, formed body islands, explored on your own, written reflections, returned alone or with friends, again and again. Tomorrow is our final performance. See you at the pier. https://www.facebook.com/events/1947563688850847/

For those planning to join us tomorrow... Please be advised that there will be road closures across the city for the half-marathon. Affected areas include the South bound lanes of Columbus Blvd from Vine to Washington, Washington Ave between Columbus and Front, and the I-95 south bound off-ramp at Washington. See the link below for a full list. Allow for extra travel time, and we'll see you at the pier!

Well... the weather certainly went rogue. Despite Friday's sub-freezing rehearsal, we arrived Saturday morning to a gorgeous (if nippy) day, a fresh blanket of ...golden leaves on the ground, and an big, playful, meditative crowd. Each weekend has been even more magical than the last. Two performances remain - see you at the pier! http://thequietcircus.com/weekly-performances/

Today's #thequietcircus brought to you by a balmy 35-38 degrees. If there's one thing we've learned in the last year, it's that wild things happen when the weather goes rogue... what will today bring? Stay tuned (or join us!) to find out.

Moment by moment everything changes here. The tides go in and out, the wind shifts, the light moves, sounds arise and fade - your body, other bodies, the spaces between. - The Quiet Circus As our final three weeks approach, taking a moment to look back at the last 33...

What an incredible day! Like every Saturday, we began at the pier with another wild and luminous Weekly Performance (of which only 3 remain). We ended at @fairmountww with a silent walk, performance by @ddeanbrick and his mother Carolyn, and a talk on the concept of #daylighting (among other things) with Deenah Loeb and David Barnes. Thanks to all who came out, and to @philadelphiacontemporary for going on this River Charrette journey with us. More pictures to come... #thequietcircus #fwwconnect #philadelphiacontemporary
