2020 VIRTUAL EMPLOYER PANEL The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) in conjunction with PACTT Alliance, hosted employers via zoom for a virtual job fair for Summit students. Employers described their business to our young men with the goal of introducing them to job opportunities across the state, in a variety of fields, including building trades, CDL, automotive, barbering, welding, human/social services, hospitality/culinary arts and warehousing. Our students were... able to speak with the representatives and highlight the job and employability skills that they have acquired at Summit Academy. They were also able to ask questions about the employment positions available with each company. The event was an exceptionally motivating experience for our young men as they contemplate their post-graduate plans. In several cases, students were also encouraged to submit online applications for employment. We are very proud of our students and look forward to continuing the process of developing their future academic and career plans. See more

Career Opportunities Achieved through Welding Industry Certifications Congratulations to Summit Academy students Antonio F. (San Diego, CA), Leon P. (Mckean Co.) and Johnathan M. (Erie) for earning their D1.1 Flat Plate 1G (groove weld) certification. Jonathan H. (Westmoreland Co.) earned the D1.1 flat plate in the "horizontal" position. He has already earned the D1.1 Flate Plate (groove weld). The horizontal weld is more difficult version of the test. He now has 2 welding certifications!

INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS WILL PAVE THE PATH TO EMPLOYABILITY AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY Congratulations to Summit Academy students Jayden S. (Crawford Co., Pennsylvania), and Joshua L. (Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania), on passing the Servsafe examination and earning their Food Safety Certification. Servsafe is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the U.S. National Restaurant Association. Good luck to these young men as they continue working toward their individual career and academic objectives!!
