"I remember as we recorded this session just prior to Jamie Stewart's (Xiu Xiu) sold out solo show in our theater on February 8, 2019, that I was particularly taken by how fragile and hushed yet intense his vocals were. It makes you want to lean in and seems to even further increase the intensity and intimacy of these two powerful songs." -Ben Harrison, curator of performing arts and special projects https://youtu.be/AvrqS263ofw
In 1966, Susan Bottomly appeared on the cover of Mademoiselle magazine and met Warhol at a party in Boston. When she moved to New York, she accepted Warhol's invitation to visit the Factory and made films with him while also pursuing a modeling career. Warhol nicknamed her "International Velvet"a play on the 1944 film "National Velvet". Warhol's film "Paraphernalia" (1966) features color footage of Bottomly performing at a party at a trendy New York fashion boutique of the s...ame name.
