I am Mary Ann Stoltzfus. Owner of Three Strands, a wife to Ben, and 9 people call me, Mom. (2 of them are my son in loves) I have 2 amazing grandsons and 2 beautiful granddaughters. Also, a little grandson in heaven. I started the doula journey in 2009, after asking my Father how I could be a voice and encouragement to young mommas. He led me to www.charischildbirth.org. Until then I had never heard of a doula or ever even seen the word. I have now attended over 100 births... and am enjoying building a team of women that carry my heart and vision for families. I truly believe that when families are healthy and strong, our communities become strong and then our nation will become powerful once again. God has designed family to represent Him and bring pleasure to Him. My encouragement to young parents is to take time to invest in yourselves and create a family vision that can leave a legacy for generations. See more

Can a doula be beneficial even if you get an epidural? The answer is yes, and here is why: A doula can... Help mom change positions in bed for comfort and labor progress... Help with pushing by suggesting techniques and provide coaching to make the process easier Provide techniques for pain management before epidural, during the procedure, and if the epidural doesn't adequately cover the pain Allow for your partner to take breaks and even get some rest because they will know that mom is being cared for Help facilitate discussion with care providers. They can be a bridge between the medical system and their clients. Doulas can help clients formulate questions and determine options Provide comfort measures such as bringing mom a cool washcloth, quickly alerting the nurse about beeping machines, provide massages, and much more. Did you have a doula and get an epidural? How were they able to support you during your labor and delivery?

A REBOZO Have you heard of it before? It is an amazing birthing tool that can be used in many different ways during labor, but one of the most common is to use it on the birthing person's hips, using controlled motions to help move the hips or sway them from side to side a little bit. These movements have been described as pelvic massage, rocking or jiggling. It is also used to help get baby in optimal position.... Have you had a Rebozo used on you during labor? How was your experience?

We have a mother’s helper in the Lancaster area that is available between 8am-5pm on Tuesdays! Have a helper come and become a part of your family, as well as take on some household chores to lighten your load Not sure exactly what a Mother’s Helper is?
