Do you have a picky eater at home? Many parents struggle with getting their children to try new foods. Below are some suggestions to help get kids to try something new at the dinner table. -Talk about the new foods you are offering -Use descriptive words about the food including the color, texture or flavor. Have your child describe to you the color, temperature or taste. This will take the focus off of like or dislike and more on learning about the new food. -Watch how mu...ch your child is drinking and snacking throughout the day -Too much Juice, milk or other drinks before a meal can cause your child not to eat well. In addition, over snacking (more than 2-3 snacks/day) can cause your child not to be hungry. Try to limit snacks or drinks about an hour before the meal so your child comes to the table hungry and more likely to eat. -Keep trying, even if they refuse the first few times -New foods can be scary for a child, and it can take multiple times of seeing a new food before a child is willing to eat it. Try not to get discouraged as a parent, and keep trying! Offering the new food multiple times, even if it is a very small amount will help the food become more normal for your child. See more
