Hello friends. Our email is temporarily down, will update soon. For now, call/text (717) 350-3771.
Hello friends. We are looking forward to the 2019 season. 2018 saw historical high water levels & lots of rain. Statistically this can’t happen 2 years in a row! We have discontinued our web site & are very rarely a vendor at the fly fishing shows. After 20+ years in business, we have our repeat clients and word of mouth advertising to thank. Please note our new email is [email protected] In addition to our business number, you can contact us at (717)350-3771.
It’s terrestrial dry fly time. Trout once again have developed their conditioned response (remember Pavlov’s dogs?) Any small item they hear dropping onto the surface mimics a terrestrial insect (ant, beetle, cricket, grasshopper, etc.) & often results in a look. A 1x1/4 piece of twig tossed in the water is a great fish finder, especially in slower pools.
Sulfur’s on the window screen out back, and my favorite fly for my favorite hatch.
Tomorrow is opening day in our southeast counties. Freshly stocked trout are conditioned to getting their food (pellets) from overhead in a hatchery. Try dry flies - they work for these fish! Some anglers have gone as far as to tie floating pellet flies.

We are saddened by the passing of fly fishing legend Lefty Kreh. Perhaps the greatest teacher of the sport...a generous kind person.
Our cold blooded friends will soon be more active. Don’t overlook the concept of trout being conditioned to colder water temps! A 3 to 4 degree fluctuation in water temps = feeding trout in late winter.
It’s usually about this time of year...our thoughts begin to look ahead to warmer days & rising trout. Waiting for a break in the weather to scratch the fishing itch.
We found this boot heel recently in one of the streams near Carlisle. Turns out it's from the Civil War. Pretty cool.
Saw the first few trico mayflies this morning. Hopefully this will be reliable throughout the summer.
