Congrats to my teammates on their wins at the NAGA tournament. Mitch 1st place, Julian 2nd & TJ 1st place. These guys have been busting their butts and deserve this. Wish I could have been there. Great job.

Congrats to Mitch Mitchell IV (1st place Champion - Expert), TJ Mitchell (1st place Champion, novice) and Julian Levy (2nd place - intermediate) for competing in the Naga World Open in New Jersey last month. This post is a little late, but we wanted to be sure to recognize their hard work and courage to represent the school at a No-gi tournament. We also wanted to recognize Isaac Sha for his commitment and dedication to coaching his brother in training TJ every session and at the event. Every competitor is only as strong as the team supporting them. Congrats to our new World Champions.

SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY Yesterday Andor was kindly invited by Paul Bova, Sensei and Founder of THE TRAFFORD JUDO CLUB, to witness the Testing and Promotion Ceremony... for Eddy Harris’ First Degree (SHODAN) Black Belt. Eddy first started his judo training with Master Jobb Sensei at his HUN JUDO DOJO at Clarion University, and after transferring to California University of Pennsylvania, continued his judo journey with Paul Bova Sensei, that has now resulted in this significant promotion. Eddy’s beautiful Mother, Daniella, was on hand with many of the dojo’s long time judoka and ourselves to join in this significant rite of judo passage. The examination commenced with a serious discussion on technique and general judo knowledge led by Bova. Then, working with fellow Judoka J. Levy, Eddy went through the classic throws plus an excellent Nage No Kata. Andor was overwhelmed by Paul’s BUDO, inviting him to present his former student with his Black Belt. At the ceremony’s end Andor asked to throw the newly minted SHODAN, and then volunteered to be thrown, losing his beret in the process. In closing, Andor asked the student his traditional final question - What is your greatest asset?’. It took a few tries, but Eddy quickly identified this as - My mind!. We most particularly were impressed with Sensei Bova’s intense and exacting methods, and by the excellence and order of his dojo and it’s beautifully landscaped grounds.
