The Trellis for Tomorrow team is thrilled Congress has passed legislation to make Juneteenth a federal holiday in the United States. Juneteenth marks the powerful, monumental milestone of when the last slaves were finally freed. The acknowledgement of this, at long last, as a federal holiday provides us an important opportunity to remember and reflect on lessons learned, and those we are still learning, both about our country’s complicated history and the indisputable oneness... of humanity. Juneteenth is also a cause for celebration! The Trellis team will be acknowledging and celebrating the Juneteenth holiday as a staff. Trellis summer garden programming kicks off Monday! We couldn't be more EXCITED to get back in the gardens with some amazing teens this summer! 4 cohorts @ 5 garden locations 60 teens growing in new ways THOUSANDS of pounds of produce donated to neighbors in need!
