We started our new after school program last week (21st Century College Readiness Program). This program has four components: tutorials, physical activities, clubs/teams and social skills classes. We partnered with Mothers in Charge organization to run the social skills classes. The slogan of the program is "becoming better you". Students learn about social skills they need to become better citizens as well as study skills, time management and other skills to help them better... students. We also partnered with The Salvation Army Kroc Center to offer physical activities to our students. 7th-11th grade students have a chance to get swimming classes, fitness activities, play basketball and other ball games during after school one day a week. Students also attend tutorials two days a week for English and math. They use a program called Study Island to practice their skills in math and English. This program allows the teachers to monitor students' progress and diagnose the needs of the students. Club/team activities start after the tutorials. Drama, chess, Science Olympiad, Robotics, Cheerleading, Art, EMC, Math League and Journalism are some of the activities students can attend during this time period. Truebright is aiming to offer a quality after school program to all of its students. The funding of the program is provided by 21st CCLC grant. Truebright is one of the few schools receive this grant to run quality after school programs. We aim to become a leading school in academics and extracurricular activities to raise global learners.
