JSHS flips to virtual on Tuesday due to 6+ cases in less than 14 days. Message this afternoon... We have been notified of 3 more confirmed positive cases at our Junior-Senior High School. This now brings the Junior-Senior High School to 6 cases within a 14 day period. As per the Department of Health and Department of Education, we will need to move students and staff at the junior-senior high school to virtual instruction starting tomorrow. Families will need to follow t...he virtual schedule for Tuesday that was utilized the week following Thanksgiving Break. The schedule was also sent out to all district student emails and through our district notification system. This Wednesday will remain a remote learning day utilizing the same structure we have been using for Wednesdays. We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused, but we are complying with new state requirements. At this point, Bethel Elementary will continue virtually. However, Penn-Bernville Elementary School remains open for in-person instruction. Should this change with PB, we will notify everyone as soon as possible. Thank you and have a great evening. Andy Netznik, Superintendent

District Quarantine Protocol Update... Message sent out to families and staff from Mr Netznik: Good evening, ... As many of you, the Center for Disease Control has updated quarantine guidance for COVID-19. Late last week, the PA Department of Health confirmed that it will be adopting the new guidelines. In order to be consistent with messaging, the District will be adopting the new guidelines as well and are as follows: Individuals who test positive must remain in isolation for 10 days and may return back to school only when they have been symptom free for 24 hours. Individuals who have been exposed or in close contact with a positive case have two options: The 10 Day Quarantine rule This applies as long as the individual does not have any symptoms. He or she should continue to monitor for symptoms during days 10-14 but may return to school on day 11 without symptoms. The 7 Day Rule with a Negative Test - The individual exposed or in close contact may return to school only after 7 days of quarantine AND if he or she has received a negative test after the 5th day following exposure. This new information has been updated in our COVID-19 documents found on our web site and the email sent out this evening. PROTOCOLS FOR RESPONDING TO COVID 19 - https://www.tulpehocken.org//StayingSAFE_Tulpehocken%20Fam As always please reach out to your child’s school with any exposures or positive cases so that the appropriate quarantine information is discussed. Thank you and have a great night! Andy Netznik, Superintendent

NOTIFICATION FROM MR. NETZNIK, sent out this evening.... We will resume in-person instruction on Monday, December 7. The schedule will be the same as it has been with Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday being in-person instruction and Wednesday as a remote learning day. The Departments of Health and Education have required school districts to adhere to new guidelines in order to maintain in-person instructional models. As a result of the new mandates, schools will be re...quired to track positive cases within school buildings during a 14 day rolling period. If the number of positive cases reaches the threshold set by the Department of Health, we will need to close the affected school building for a period of up to 7 days with instruction moving virtually. In an effort to be as transparent as possible, we are launching a new page on our district web site. The new page is a weekly COVID dashboard update of the positive cases. Every time there is a positive case, we will update the dashboard along with sending out a district wide email instead of a voice call. The purpose for the change is to hopefully better inform parents of the overall tracking we do. The dashboard has been updated to reflect cases reported from before and during the Thanksgiving break. Please remember that when you have a positive case within your household, contact your child’s school to let the main office know. We all know that the best defense against COVID is taking proactive preventative steps. Quarantining when appropriate is absolutely necessary in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. If your child has been exposed to a positive case, showing symptoms, or tested positive, please reach out to the school office so that quarantining information can be discussed. Lastly we know that COVID-19 has not be easy on all of us. To help out our families, we are holding a Winter Coat Drive for all kids, even non-school aged. Donations of new winter coats are being accepted at the entrances of each school building. If you are in need of a winter coat, please click on the link found on our district web site. As always, thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate this trying time. Andy Netznik, Superintendent
