Turning Points is starting summer off by thanking our Foster parents who were honored last month by our Foster Care Team. These foster parents are dedicated to providing safe, caring homes to youth in need. Our work is not possible without you! Thank you to all our Foster families for everything you do and consider joining us for our June Resource Parent Support Groups to hear from other parents and share your story! More information about our upcoming groups can be found here: https://turningpointsforchildren.phmc.org/foster
Wishing a Happy Pride month to all those in the LGBTQIA+ community! Turning Points for Children is committed to ensuring that our work is inclusive of and supportive to individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations. This month we celebrate you and who you are.
Wishing you and your families a happy and peaceful Memorial Day. Thank you to the many selfless service members who have sacrificed for our freedoms.
Last Saturday our Turning Points families gathered to celebrate some of our exemplary resource parents with a virtual Scavenger Hunt. Thank you to all the families who logged on for the event! The end of foster care awareness month may be coming up, but our recognition for our resource parents extends beyond that. We appreciate the work these parents do in providing a safe, loving home for children in need each day. If you’re interested in learning more about giving a temporary home and stability to a child facing adversity, please visit our Foster Care page by copying the link below: https://turningpointsforchildren.phmc.org/foster

Resource parents and families have been arriving to pick up gifts for their children! Here are some memories from last year’s Brighter Holidays events where our wonderful volunteers helped to wrap gifts. Thanks to our generous donors and supporters, every child under our care will end this year on a joyful note, with a gift..

Thank you to the Phillies Wives and their Prom Series team for Building big league confidence with major league style. This past month they donated full outfits, including shoes, masks and Phillies jerseys, to 25 of our young girls in foster care. The girls were overjoyed and emotional at receiving clothes that can make them feel confident as they start a new, unpredictable school year. Thank you for being Turning Points! #BeATurningPoint #Phillies #PhilliesWives
During a pandemic technology and connection are more vital than ever. Our young adults often do not have the items that we take for granted during this uncertain time. With the gift of an Amazon tablet, you are giving them a chance to connect. Connect with applications for college; connect with a mental health specialist to deal with trauma and stress; connect with job boards and find a new position; connect with the family and friends in their community they can’t see right now. With your gift of connection today a young adult has hope of a brighter future despite the challenges the pandemic brings. Purchase a tablet for someone in need from our Wishlist here: http://ow.ly/c1WW50BXLCQ Thank you for being a turning point for the youth we serve.

PA Safety Alliance is working to save lives with legislation that would require a permit to purchase a firearm. The City of Philadelphia, along with brave individuals and groups are going to court to allow communities to pass firearm safety measures that work for them. We support these efforts to establish safety in the communities of the children and families we serve.
This past month our Family Finding Program celebrated its 10 year anniversary. That’s 10 years of youth in foster care reunited with long lost loved ones, mentors and supports. That’s 10 years of innovation, equity and legacy. The staff on this team are committed to adapting in creative ways to identify love for the children we serve. This includes reconnecting siblings, taking extra care for children experiencing inequities such as racism and homophobia. In 10 years they’ve found and confirmed over 25,000 supportive, caring people to connect with foster care children of all ages. Watch the video to hear one of our staff member's Family Finding Moment

Today is Child Health Day! Now more than ever public health is a major issue facing the families that we serve. All of Turning Points’ programs, including our emergency food pantries, connecting youth with supportive adults, providing PPE and finding forever families, is built on the foundation of keeping children safe and healthy. Today and every day we strive toward the brighter future we envision where all vulnerable children are protected from health crises.
