What is our Coconut Mung Bean Tapioca Dessert ()? Originally a dessert from the Jiangxi province of southern China, it has become especially popular in Taiwan and across Asia. Today, it has many variations--made with taro, mango, and honeydew! At TW Kitchen, we make it traditionally with mung beans, coconut milk, and sago (looks like tiny, clear tapioca pearls). This is a delicious, creamy dessert that’s both #vegan and #glutenfree! Eaten cold or hot, it’s the perfect sweet end to a savory meal.

What are the origins of tofu skin-wrapped pork rolls? (English below) ... Despite their pork filling, they are curiously called chicken rolls. There are many stories regarding whyone story goes that the long rolls resemble a chicken’s thin neck, hence the name chicken roll. A more common story is that poor farming villages did not want to waste leftover pork by throwing it away, so they would add seasonings, wrap it up in tofu skin, and deep fry it, creating a unique and savory snack. The snack was called (additional rolls) because they were made out of the leftover meat and added to a meal, but this gradually became known as the misnomer (chicken rolls) because additional () and chicken () sound similar in Taiwanese. For our customers who read Chinese, we did not want to mislead them by writing (chicken rolls) on the menu in case they think the rolls contain chicken meat, so we used the name (additional rolls)!

Try our freshly squeezed Aiyu + Grass Jelly Lemonade ()! The perfect summer drink to quench thirst and rehydrate! Aiyu jelly, made from figs, is a very popular dessert eaten in Taiwan by itself or in place of boba. It’s not only delicious, but has many health benefits: good for the skin, improves blood circulation, and reduces swelling! Grass jelly, made from the Chinese mesona plant, is also rich in minerals, low in calories, and high in fiber to aid with digestion.
