***Job Opportunity*** Glassblowing Assistant at Sanctuary Glass Studio in Shreveport, LA needed beginning in September 16-25 hours to start with room to grow!... Starting pay $15/hour. We are looking for a glassblowing assistant that has some experience in glassblowing and hot glass sculpting, has a positive attitude, an eagerness to continue learning, and is hard working. We just opened our studio in March and have grown quickly and need more help to continue to do so. Not only will you help in creating production work, assisting in create your owns and glass parties, creating one of a kind pieces, teaching classes, and fulfilling commissions, you will also have an opportunity to work for our non-profit called Sanctuary Arts School. Having just received our 501(c)3 status, we have started doing community outreach with children in low income housing, residents at retirement homes, and working with people in the military who suffer from PTSD. We have goals to create a larger studio housed in the Shreveport Common that would not only offer glass but several other mediums as well. ([http://www.shreveportcommon.com/](http://www.shreveportcommon.com/)) Shreveport is located 3 hours away from Dallas/Fort Worth area and 5 hours from New Orleans which gives us opportunities to participate in shows in those cities and to have a fun getaway close by. Being located in the south there is also a ton of delicious food to try from Cajun to Crawfish! Not to mention, our studio is located inside the Red River Brewing Co.; and what goes better with hot glass, than cold beer!! Shreveport is an up and coming city with vast opportunities for growth at the moment. We would love to have someone who presents new ideas and is excited to help build an artist community from the ground up. Please send your resumes to Michelle Pennington at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Cover letters and a letter of recommendation is a plus but not required, and please attach 3-5 recent photos of your work. Thanks!! We look forward to working with you!!!
