Union City Police are investigating an incident of theft that occurred on May 30th. A wallet was dropped in Union City and credit cards from the wallet were used for purchases at Dollar General in Waterford and Auto Zone on Peach St in Erie. Pictured are two suspects at the Dollar General. Lettering on the male suspect says "ZOO YORK". If you can identify them or have any information, please call UCPD at 814-438-3441.

Due to these trying times regarding COVID19, National Night Out 2020 is cancelled. UCPD starts planning for this event as soon as spring and throughout the summer and the future is too unknown to plan such an event. Most importantly, most of the funding comes from local businesses, and therefore we would be remiss to ask during these rough times.

As reports keep coming in by the minute from all levels of government, we want to remind people to remain calm and not panic. There is a sense of insecurity in the public that people are going to start breaking into homes and thefts are going to be on the rise. Our department has actually seen a decline in criminal activity and calls of service. This is due to the enormous decline in people out in public. Most people are home which puts burglars and thieves at a disadvant...age. Citizens can help by keeping any valuables out of your vehicles. Lock your doors. Keep valuables in your homes out of view. Out of sight, out of mind. We want to remind everybody to be extra vigilant and look out for one another; watch over not only your house, but your neighbors. Report any suspicious persons or activity to the police. We are here to assist you if needed; don't hesitate to call. Emergency: DIAL 911 Non-Emergency: DIAL 814-438-3441

Since all non-life sustaining businesses have been ordered to close, the Erie County Health Dept has put an enforcement plan in place for non-compliance. The Erie County Health Dept will be the point of contact for any complaints/concerns. There phone number is 814-451-6700. The Union City Police Dept has also made some changes regarding our response to calls of service. Our normal office hours will remain the same. However, regarding response to calls of service, officer...s have been instructed to respond normally to calls of service that are deemed emergencies, but all other calls that are non-emergency, officers will follow up via telephone as much as possible to avoid unnecessary exposure to other people during this process. Our building is also closed down for all business at this time, so we ask if you are in need of something to call the station at 814-438-3441. If it's an emergency, dial 911. Thank you for your patience and understanding in these tough times. Be Safe!

In continuing our ongoing mission of Community Oriented Policing, we are rolling out a new initiative this summer called "UNSEAT AND GREET". Officers will be more proactive in "unseating" from their patrol vehicles and "greeting" people at random in different neighborhoods as we patrol your area. We want to continue to build relationships with our community members and meet new people. Officers will have business cards to hand out as well. As always, never hesitate to call us if you need assistance! Stay safe out there!

Thank you to everybody who volunteered their time on Saturday for our 3rd Annual Clean-Up event. We finally had nice weather this year. We have seen a considerable drop-off in the amount of litter on our streets since the first event, a positive sign that we have removed a lot of litter from our community in 3 years. We also swept the main street sidewalks!!! Again, a BIG THANKS to everybody who volunteered - past and present - and we hope to continue to grow the event in future years to come!!!
