Today, I had a knock at the door. I opened the door and was met by Melody McKenzie and her 10 year old daughter Marissa McKenzie, who attends Union Elementary School. Marissa raised money for the police department by baking cookies and selling them. Marissa presented Officer Laine Baker, with $200.00 for the purpose of purchasing equipment. On May 31, 2020 Union Police were requested by Wal-Mart to assist with the evacuation of the store as a safety precaution due to the reported events that did occur at surrounding Wal-Mart Stores. While officers were on scene, officers received information that there was a possible disturbance in the store. Officers entered Wal-Mart and determined that no criminal activity (i.e. shots fired, fight) occurred. Police stood by at the store until the store was cleared and closed.... Mark K.
