Advent Peace: Watch and wait for Christ’s coming! Light candles of hope, peace, joy, and love, remembering the promises of God with prayer.... We light this candle in hope. (Light the first candle.) We light this candle for peace. (Light the second candle.) Hear Zechariah’s song of hope for peace to the Christ child. A reading from Luke 1:76-79: You, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins. By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace." Let us pray: God of hope, Prince of Peace, You speak peace into the world in the Way of the Christ child. Help us embody your peace and live as peacemakers that we may called children of God. God of hope, God of peace, into our darkness come. Amen.

In this time, when the year has been filled with much pain and sadness, you are the light in the world. CoVid may have kept us out of the building, but that does not stop us from sharing hope with our community! The Good Samaritan Fund provided families with gift cards to Walmart and Giant. The Maternal and Child Health Consortium thanked us for our donation of Beanie Babies (thanks to Pat Kofke) for Christmas gifts. We received a thank you note from... KACS for the 50 Thanksgiving bags we put together. The Maternal and Child Health Consortium sent pictures (attached and below) of the children enjoying the coats we donated. Curt McCray and Rob MacPherson made recordings of our carillon and the antique church bell for use during worship. A survivor of human trafficking sent a thank you note for our donations of bedding, curtains, and kitchen tools throughout the year to her and other survivors. I know you are doing many things to love our neighbors please let me know so I can share it! See more

This is an important time in the life of our church. Please consider serving as a Deacon (we need one more). Membership in the church carries with it responsibilities for all of us to participate in the life of the church. Please contact Elder Joan Deming-Murphy ([email protected]) if you are interested.
