The largest occupation in Pennsylvania in 2018 was retail salesperson. Earning an average of $11.08 an hour, these workers did not make enough for a single adult to afford their basic household needs, like housing, food, and transportation. A senior would not be able to survive on this salary, and someone supporting a family of 4 would only be earning about 1/3 of what they would need to make ends meet.
