Happy Birthday Dr. King. 40 years ago today, your birthday was not a national holiday. I attended Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland, one of the most racially diverse schools in the nation. I did not realize that the world wasn’t what I happily experienced every day. The best public education ever. Apparently in 1981 Stevie Wonder performed at our wonderful school in your honor singing Happy Birthday to our large and diverse student body. What a day that must have been. I had already graduated. Thank you for everything that you fought for.
