VAB Uniform New pointe shoes from @the_dancers_closet_ A GREAT start to our week!
Sometimes disrespect rears it's ugly head in the ballet class. A roll of the eyes, a sigh, turning a back to the instructor, yawning, talking - These are all sm...all gestures. Then there is the blatant disrespect: talking back to the teacher, correcting the teacher, gossip... While it is an uncomfortable conversation, instructors, you must address these things. Often a private conversation can correct the behavior without causing embarrassment. Sometimes it's a broad correction that can be talked about in class. Ignoring it allows it to continue and often spread to other students. Remember - you are training how to function in life... not just the ballet class. Respect is a lesson that future employers will be glad you fixed! Parents: Support your school in demanding respect from your children for their instructors. Model the behavior you want them to have. If a teacher points out a behavior that needs corrected - try not to be defensive- use it as an opportunity to train up your child.
