The Rescue along with company 70 (Leedom) units are currently operating on a reported accident with entrapment on I-95 Northbound. First arriving units had a 3 vehicle accident with negative entrapment. Crozer EMS handled the injuries and fire crews remain on scene. Spill 67 (Woodlyn) was requested due to the amount of fuel on the highway.

Francis J. Fran Desmond, III, age 62, a longtime resident of Chester passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020. Fran attended St. James Boy’s High School in Ch...ester and was employed by Crozer Chester Medical Center for 26 years, Sears for 10 years, and Colonial Transportation for 5 years. Fran had more than 40 years of dedicated service with several Fire Companies; Fran belonged to the Moyamensing Jr.’s, Hanley Hose Fire Co ., the SM Vauclain Fire Co. where he was a trustee and Lieutenant, a delegate for the Delaware County Fireman’s Association, and president for the last 5 years of the Delaware County Fire Police Association. Fran was passionate about helping others and was truly devoted to fire service. Fran was the son of the late Francis J. and Audrey M. (Smith) Desmond, Jr., brother of the late Mary Teresa Dewees, and brother-in-law of the late Hubert M. Dewees and Charles M. Arthur. His loving wife of 39 years: Candice H. (Arthur) Desmond; his 2 daughters: Amanda H. Hawkins (Kenneth) and Katrina H. Gilbert; his sister: Evelyn M. Desmond; his 2 beloved grandchildren: Hunter and Alexis Gilbert; and nieces and nephews: Adele Dewees, Brian Dewees, Jennifer Dewees, Angela Desmond, Adrianna Dewees, Kallilynn Dewees, and Brian Dewees, Jr. Visitation: Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, 5980 Chichester Ave., Aston, PA. The S.M. Vauclain Fire Company is saddened to announce the death of Francis Desmond. Fran was an active and devoted member of the Fire Company. He served as our Fire-police Lieutenant and also a trustee on the Board of Directors. Fran was the President of the Delaware County Fire-police Association. He served the Delaware County Fire Service for over 40 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with Fran’s family and friends.
