Our preschoolers found something to celebrate today in Mozart's birthday! The famed composer was born January 27, 1756. While we have traditionally held a special concert and "instrument petting zoo" for this occasion with our Veritas Academy high school orchestra, this year Covid restrictions meant a scaled down celebration. Miss Michelle's class enjoyed playing with their own instruments along to some of Mozart's famous pieces! Here at Veritas Preschool, we believe in educating and supporting the whole child - body, mind, and spirit - and part of that is rejoicing in creative arts and stoking new and exciting interests! There is beauty in all the seasons - yes, even blustery cold winters - just as Miss Laurie's class discovered earlier this year. While reading this Four Seasons book and listening to Vivaldi's Four Seasons classical stringed instrument suite, the preschoolers thought the "Winter" concerto "sounded like ice skating," so they fashioned their own skates out of blocks and glided about the room to the music! S'mores and campfires, fireflies and bear hunts. PreK was a camping adventure in September for Miss Laurie and Miss Meghan's classes, who enjoyed exploring the great outdoors from with their classrooms and imaginations. Of course, through it all, they're learning everything from math to motor skills, and having fun all the while!... Meet Miss Sarah Carpenter, our new Preschool Assistant for the 2020-2021 school year! Parents and kids have gotten to know her as the smiling face who greets families upon arrival, taking temperatures and making sure students are healthy and ready for a fun day at school. Sarah also assists all of our teachers in the classrooms where needed, though you can usually find her helping in Miss Michelle's preschool class. She has worked in child care for 8 years and has two daughte...rs who attend Veritas Preschool. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, going on hikes, and playing the piano. "I’m looking forward to watching the students grow and learn and working with Miss Michelle to make preschool a great learning experience," Sarah says. Big preschool smiles and lots of excitement after their first day of preschool! These kids sure were happy after their time at preschool this week. It is such a joy to have such joyful kiddos to return to their parents...and we know these parents were happy to see their little ones' smiles too! Our first week of preschool was full of fun and learning, and we can't wait to see these smiling faces again as we begin week two!

Our teachers have been working diligently all week to make our classrooms warm, fun, and welcoming for our preschool friends next week.
