Super day for a January VFTR trail ride.
Last minute work day in Blain tomorrow 11/24. If anyone is available to help meet me at the CCC camp on laurel run rd at 10. Will be clearing trail on foot. Rain should be ending just in time to start working.
What a day in the Forest, and the collaboration of motorcycle enthusiasts that care about the future of off road enduro preservation. We had help from associates from different ECEA clubs and others, all for the cause of saving an iconic enduro. No doubt this section was a challenge to complete but we got it done. Still lots to do and can use more hands on deck to get to our goal next weekend, it may be our final chance to work with the winter weather coming.
We have a work day scheduled for this Sunday. We will be meeting at April’s Country Kitchen again at 8:30. Need chain saws, clippers, hand saws ribbon etc.... Working up in the Kansas Valley section again, anyone that knows how to get to the Blain Vista off Kansas Valley Rd. We will meet you there at 10 AM.
Great day in Blain working on the 2020 Moonshine @ Foggy Mountain Enduro. A little cold rainy weather didn't stop us from cutting some awesome trail. Can't wait to see some riders working their way through these rocks on this powerline. What a view, thanks to all who made it out to help the effort. #Valley forge trail riders #Moonshine Enduro
Ten years later... now 35 years of working with this fine landowner as part of the Moonshine Enduro. VFTR crew was helping with property maintenance today and maintaining our great relationship!
We have a work day for Blain this Sunday, and a Blue Knob work day in Brandonville. I am pretty sure Brandonville has plenty from what I hear. How ever skeleton crew so far for Blain. If anyone is interested in helping out this Sunday we will be meeting at 8:30 AM @Aprils Country Kitchen.
VFTR, First I want to thank those who made it to Blain this past Sunday for a great work day and Scan for attending the Blue Nob meeting. John organized our work day and we actually got a little more done than the... goal that was set. Great job by a great crew. Throughout the day we were treated to a clinic by the GOAT on trail clearing, chainsaw maintenance, riding, women, cars, and beer drinking. We never were able to locate a certain item lost by Nick a few years ago. It certainly was quite an extravaganza! Sunday October 20 we are going to need a little help. We need to send 6 people to Blue Nob for their fall work day (work a little, eat food, go riding) and we also need to staff our work day in Blain. I know everyone is very busy but please, if possible, make every effort to be at either Blue Nob or Blain. It is very important to the future of our club and our events. Please respond via email if you can make it and which you prefer to attend. HOW!!...turk
Cloudy and cool day to work in the forest. Had a crew of eight and accomplished our goal and produced over 4 miles of single track today.
We have a Blain work day this Sunday October 6th. We are NOT meeting at the Picnic grove. We will be meeting closer to the section we will be working on. Please see club e mail for more info, or message here. Hope to see you there! Thanks, John

Blain Progress: Last weekend progress was made for sure. Saturday we had a nice turn out and worked on the fourth section. Almost three miles of trail was cleared and Section was more than halfway finished. I don’t recall everyone’s name that was there sorry some where new guys so I won’t name names. We hit two bees nest and everyone was stung at least once I believe, I was stung 12 times. Very fun day despite this mishap. Sunday we had an all new crew and another reall...y nice turn out, we split up into foot workers and bike workers. Our progress on the fourth section continued nicely with Eric quickly figuring where to put our efforts. We completed this fourth section and found right where the foot crew left off, seamlessly gps/Eric put us dead on. No lie, often I think Eric has some blood hound in him lol. So we can say more than half the Enduro tracks are clear and ready to turn into DCNR. Sections 1,2,4 and some of 5. I hope this helps and our turn out for this last weekend was awesome and VFTR was the biggest effort, we also had a Blain resident and some SORR members helping out. As for paper maps they have been very helpful, we are trying to get more copies but so far not able too. Working on this problem. Now it’s time for Moonshine in Brandonville, and I am getting excited about that! I’m sure it will be a hoot! Probably will be Enduro of the year. See you on the trail,John
Great trail work day in Blain on Sunday. Dirty dozen working to Make Blain Great Again.
Hey guys, We have another work weekend coming up in Blain. As discussed at the last meeting we are behind schedule. This will be our only work weekend in September so we need a good showing to prove to DCNR that we are committed to making this happen. If we don't have an enduro there in 2020 we will lose the chance to ever have one there again and that is not acceptable to me. We need to save this one for the future of the club and our sport in general. We will be camping at ...the Blain picnic grounds. Meet at 9AM each day at the picnic grounds. Bring a chainsaw if you have one. Trail saws and ribbon will be helpful as well. Please contact me to let me know which day or days you can make it and if you have a preference for working on foot or with a bike. We will have work for you either way. For those bringing bikes, if there is interest we can do a small trail ride either day after the work is finished. Finally, here is a list of the remaining work days for this year. These are all Sundays but depending on how we are progressing we may make them the whole weekend. 9/7-9/8 10/6 10/20 11/10 11/17 Thanks, Eric
MOONSHINE 2019 PREVIEWS Since 1984 the Moonshine enduro has been hosted in Brandonville PA by VFTR and more recently a collaborative effort between HMDR and VFTR. Our two clubs are proud of what we have built, and we announce with mixed emotions that the 2019 Moonshine will be the finale at our home for the last 35 years. Increased land pressure and the opportunity to resurrect the former Foggy Mountain Enduro have led us to host the 2020 enduro in Blain PA. This means that S...ept 22, 2019 will be your last chance to enjoy the silky smooth Moonshine our trail masters are distilling. As always, we have custom blended the Moonshine for all riders ability and taste by using course splits to ensure everyone gets the right challenge and has a great day in the saddle. The HMDR and VFTR crews have really knocked it out of the park with this one. The course is awesome- 5 sections for the ASSr, B, C Women and Masters; 7 for the AA and A to A Sr. I have ridden the entire course and have to say, this may be our best ever- a nice mix of woods trail, two trackers and dirt roads. More details to follow. Due to our course layout we will be restricted to a 400 rider limit- so don’t miss out! On line entry is open and I have attached the entry. See more
Hey everyone, Wanted to remind you we have an important meeting coming up Thursday. Turk has 2019 Moonshine info to go over. This Thursday August 22
A big shout out and thank you to Luke, Glenn, Sam, Lenny and Bill for their help clearing the Blue Knob hunt club trail. Heat index was a 100 degrees. Everyone worked up quite a sweat moving all the logs and branches off the trail. It's looking good. Please do not ride the Blue Knob Hunt Club trail. As you know there are a lot outlaws trespassing up there and the club is getting pissed off because these idiots are making two lane highways around the gates. Turk, Bill or I hav...e to make a phone call the day before we are up there working. Thanks, Oaks
Productive trail work weekend. Skeleton crew on Saturday, picked up the pace on Sunday with seven people out clearing and cutting trail. Thanks to Travis, Erin and Josh for joining us and look forward to seeing you guys again out on the trail.
We have another Blain work weekend coming up. Would be great to see some new faces this time. We'll be working both days and camping Saturday night. But if you can't make it for both days come out for just Saturday or Sunday. Once again we'll need chainsaws if you have them, trail saws, and ribbon. Don't stay home because you don't have a chainsaw to bring. There's plenty of work to keep you busy without one. We finally have enough trail cleared out to do some trail riding af...ter the work is done both days. So come check out Marc's secretarial stick farm section or Schoeffling's smoking saw blade black diamond rock garden. We'll be meeting at 9 AM each day in the same parking lot as the last work day. GPS coordinates N 40.280556 W 77.624314. Let me know who can make it. Eric
In case you haven't heard, the restaurant will be closed from Aug. 11-18 for everyone to have vacation. Never fear, we will return to normal hours on Tuesday August 20. We'll miss you!
