10 years ago today, the Stephens family took out their first guided horseback tour with a handful of guests, borrowed saddles and their own personal horses. To... think that In only 10 years it has grown to a multi faceted battlefield tour company- respected by guests and guides- is just amazingly awesome! By 9 AM this morning, which is about when this picture was taken, everyone was on their way back to their starting points and our heat policy was in full active... status. *All of the horses and humans are off the battlefield. * All guests have been contacted and rescheduled or refunded in full *The afternoon rides since Friday have been closed due to heat -Wednesday of last week we begin making preparations to move guests already booked in the afternoon rides this coming week to earlier times in order to ensure the safety of our horses and humans and also give our guests the chance to be able to ride under safe conditions. -We know how much you all are looking forward to Riding and we appreciate every single one of you who understand that although we are sorry we have to cancel we wouldn’t do What we do any other way. We have to make the safest weather decision based on the data we have at the time. Unfortunately sometimes all the information is wrong. We apologize... for the beautiful weather. Waiting till the last possible moment, 8pm last evening we made the decision to close the 9am and 12pm tours today. This was due to multiple forecast models (photo below was pulled at 11:52am today) showing and still showing the most amount of rain, possible storms and lightning to happen between 12 noon and 2pm. Please note that your horse crews are out two hours prior to your scheduled tour. Based on all of the information we had, it was decided we would not put our staff in unnecessary danger. All guests were notified via email and text message, then a follow up phone call from us or the third-party which they used to book their tour between 8:15 PM and 9:15 PM last night. Controlled burn at Gettysburg National Military Park update: Confederate Trails of Gettysburg and Victorian Carriage Company will be operating on a NORMAL sche...dule.
