Shop late & support Lancaster City’s small businesses! This Thursday, Dec. 10th, is the annual Lancaster Shops Late night, a once-a-year retail experience where shops, boutiques, galleries, and more stay open late into the night for holiday shoppers to enjoy! The evening is hosted by the Lancaster Office of Promotion (Visit Lancaster City) and Lancaster City Alliance. For a list of participating shops, go to visitlancastercity.com//lancaster-ci/lancaster-shops-late/ ... Participating locations will be open at least 5 - 9 pm this Thursday. Come see the Christmas tree and lights, then get some holiday shopping done! There are also plenty of opportunities to shop local online or through curbside pickup. Santa in the city! This past weekend, Santa and the Kringle Caravan made their way through Lancaster City’s neighborhoods. Prima Theatre‘s LanCarolers also made some appearances! Congrats, A Concrete Rose Bookbar! A Concrete Rose Book Bar has leased space in a Southeast Lancaster city shopping center for its planned winery, bookstore and event space. It will occupy a 2,000-square foot space at 910 S. Duke St., taking a spot in the Spanish American Civic Association’s Plaza Centro Commercial Center. The space is planned to include a small stage, displays for books and a fermentation room visible through a glass wall. A deck will provide outdoor sea...ting. A Concrete Rose Book Bar will feature house-made wine made with grapes from yet-to-be-determined local vineyards. The selection of books will feature the work of Black authors.
Weekend Winter Wonderland continues with the first installment of our Reindeer Reader Series! Up first is Leilani Tran, Lancaster Bureau of Police's police social worker, reading I Got the Christmas Spirit, written by Connie Schofield-Morrison and illustrated by Frank Morrison, published by Bloomsbury Children's Books and read with permission from the publisher. We hope you enjoy sharing this Christmas story with your family.... This book, as well as many other holiday favorites, is available at the Lancaster Public Library. All season long, the City of Lancaster in partnership with the Lancaster Public Library will release videos of Lancastrians reading holiday stories for children to enjoy. Calling all Lancaster County residents! We want some local feedback. Every year, travelers from all around the world visit Lancaster to learn about its rich history and observe Amish society. However, COVID-19 has disrupted this flow of visitors unlike anything ever before. As local tourism businesses press forward, they are seeking answers to guide their marketing and operational procedures to best protect the local community, visitors, and the economy. This study seeks to u...nderstand the local and visitor perspectives about travel and tourism to Lancaster County during the pandemic. Local tourism businesses can utilize this information to make informed decisions that support the entire community. If you are interested in participating in this research study, please email [email protected] to register for an interview. Interviews will last approximately 30 minutes and will be conducted remotely on Zoom. Before registering, please make sure you meet the inclusion criteria listed at the bottom of the graphic. This research study is being conducted by Visit Lancaster City's former intern and Penn State student, Katie Kubis.

SpiceKings Kitchen is now open in downtown Lancaster with a variety of gourmet street foods. The restaurant at 47 N. Prince St. features a menu of loaded fries, including crab fries, surf and turf fries, and Buffalo chicken fries. There are also egg rolls, including Alfredo, cheese steak, and crab cake varieties. Spice Kings is owned by Jermain Smith and Damonte Williams, who did catering before opening their small restaurant which focuses on takeout, but also has some inside seating. Spice Kings is taking a spot previously occupied by Senor Hoagies.

Welcome to Lancaster City! Ella Jane Vintage, which features glassware and other vintage home décor items, has opened a retail showroom in downtown Lancaster. The roughly 300-square-foot shop at 50 N. Queen St. is an outgrowth of an online business started a year ago by longtime friends Shannon Wissler and Shay Bond.... Wissler says the shop features mid-century modern glassware, art deco vases, jewelry and purses. There are also ash trays, smoking sets and vintage lighters.
