Paul W.Cashner, 92, of Shamokin Dam PA and formerly of Danville PA passed away December 2, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA. He was the only child and last male Cashner of his generation, born to the late James Melvin (Pete) Cashner and Helen Pearl Depoe Cashner of Montour County PA. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine M. Gerri DeWald Cashner in 2019. They were married May 12, 1988. He was previously married for 30 years to the late Ann M. ...Rourke of Albany NY. Paul spent his formative years in Danville PA, graduating from Danville High School in 1945. After graduating, he worked briefly at Geisinger Medical Center in the accounting office. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served in Japan during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. After returning, he returned to work at Geisinger Medical Center until entering college at Bucknell University for two years and then transferred to Northwestern University in Illinois, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Accounting. Paul relocated to Schenectady NY where he was employed by General Electric in the Federal Income Tax Office. He then worked for the State of New York for two years and for 30 years as auditor of the Schenectady Naval Reactor Office in Niskayuna NY, from where he retired. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Shamokin Dam PA. Paul, a private man, began his retirement days sleeping late, tinkering, gardening and often staying outside late into the evening. Paul was a generous provider to his family. He had a sense of humor that was uniquely his own. His favorite response to being greeted with how are you? was terrible. Services and burial will be private at Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA. Geraldine F.Granny Seidler, 101, of Riverside PA went home to be with her Lord and Saviour at the residence of her daughter. She was born July 5, 1919 in Snydertown PA the daughter of the late John and Lillian Crowl Enterline. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Max P. Seidler. She graduated from Danville High School.... Geraldine’s life as a homemaker was centered around home, family and friends. She will be remembered for her huge servant heart, her epitome of love, kindness and selflessness. Her door was open to anyone who was in need of love, without condition or judgment. Geraldine’s life was lived with an unwavering faith and never questioning God’s plan. She will be especially missed for her keen sense of humor, wit and her outstanding zest for life. She was a member of Bloomsburg Southern Baptist Church in Bloomsburg PA where, upon entrance, was always adorned in a hat. She always added grace and dignity whenever she worshipped. She is survived by two daughters; Maxine Billmeyer and her husband Randy of Danville PA and Susan Smith of Freeburg PA Also surviving are seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son, Roger P. Seidler. Robert Clinton Bob Mort, 77, of Minersville PA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. He was born April 16, 1943 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County, the son of the late Clinton J. and Dorothy Delcamp Mort. He graduated from Ashland High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Williamsport Community College. Bob was employed as an electrical engineer for most of his life with Lockheed-Martin. Bob served his country in the United States Army from... 1965 1970. He was a member of American Legion #40, Danville Moose, VFW Post #298, Continental Fire Company; all of Danville PA and Southside Fire Company in Riverside PA. His other memberships included the Hamburg Game Association. One of Bob’s greatest enjoyments in life was being an Amateur Ham Radio Operator which included traveling to many Ham Fests all over the country, including Florida, New Jersey, and Ohio. He also was a great collector of guns, cars, and watches. Bob loved animals. He will be remembered as a good guy and generous soul who was always helping others whenever he saw the need. Bob was also well known for his storytelling and many will greatly miss those detailed stories. He is survived by one son, Robert Joseph Mort and his wife Niki of Ocoee Florida and one daughter: Janell Mort of Fullerton CA. Also surviving is one grandson, Todd Gerding of Orlando FL He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Melissa Reichard, and her husband Harrison as well as his granddaughter, Zoe; all of Shoemakersville PA and his stepson, Donald Smith and his daughter, Heidi of Reading PA. Arlene Frances Beyer, 89, of Danville PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior at Grandview Nursing Home in Danville PA on Sunday, October 18, 2020. She was born December 9, 1930 in New Milford PA the daughter of the late Aaron Franklin and Arna Lula Snyder Ferster. She graduated from Windsor Central High School in Windsor NY Arlene was a devoted farmwife and an exceptionally dedicated homemaker who took great pride in her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and grea...t-grandmother. She enjoyed driving school bus and she also drove for the Montour County Transit where many people were greeted with her kindness and compassion She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Robert Ray Beyer on April 11, 2000. They were married October 6, 1951. Arlene was a member of First Baptist Church Danville PA where she served faithfully in the nursey and enjoyed being a deaconess. She enjoyed bus trips to many destinations. She loved playing Dominoes and Hand and Foot card game with her friends. Her greatest joy in life was being a professional Noni. Arlene touched so many people’s lives with her sweet, caring and thoughtful presence and will be greatly missed. She is survived by one son, Ronald R. Margaret M. James, 79, of Danville PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior at Grandview Health Homes in Danville PA on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. She was born February 23, 1941 in Catawissa PA the daughter of the late Robert and Alice Ash Miller. She graduated from Danville High School in 1959. She was employed as a Unit Clerk at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for 23 years.... She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, William L. James. They were married September 19, 1969. Margaret enjoyed crocheting and loved flower gardening. Her two dogs, Prince and Jade, were the lights of her life and her devoted companions for many years. She is survived by one son, Jeffrey W. James of Danville PA and one daughter, Sharon Burak and her husband Tony of Centreville, Maryland. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Owen and Miranda, whom she adored. Eugene and Edna Shultz Aurand. She graduated from Danville High School. Virginia was employed for over 45 years as a seamstress at Danville Manufacturing Company Danville PA from where she retired. ... She was a faithful member of Shiloh United Church of Christ serving in numerous ways wherever help was needed. Her other memberships included dancing with the Danjo Wheelers and the Danville Garden Club. She loved flowers. She enjoyed bowling, playing golf and card playing. Virginia's greatest joy of her life was spending time with her family whom she adored. She is survived by one brother, Charles N. Ralph L. Cooke, 72, of Elizabethtown PA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 11, 2020 in Middletown PA. He was born May 7, 1948 in Danville PA the son of the late Donald K. and Mary Ellen Herman Cooke. Ralph graduated from Middletown Area High School. He loved his country and served faithfully in the United States Army National Guard for 41 years from 1967-2008 as an aircraft mechanic. ... He enjoyed working part-time at Germak Electrical in Middletown for the last 10 years. Ralph was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. He was also a lifetime member of the Friendship Fire Company Social Club in Lebanon PA. He loved fishing and hunting. He will be remembered as a selfless, caring man who would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help and certainly was a jack of all trades. A tenderhearted, kind soul, Ralph was loved and befriended by many, and he will be deeply missed. Most of all, Ralph adored his family including his daughter and granddaughter who were the core of his life and meant more to him than anything else. He is survived by one daughter, Hope L. Cooke and one granddaughter, Kaylee M. Phillips; both of Lykens PA as well as one granddaughter who is expected in February. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Todd Tate, 56, of Flinton PA passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA as the result of an accident. He was born October 23, 1963 in State College PA, the son of the late Franklin Tate and Nancy Porter. Todd was a self-employed roofer and laborer for most of his life. Todd was well known for his happy disposition and how much he loved life. Having a kind and generous heart, he was always helping people even though he might not ...have known them. Todd enjoyed quilting, traveling to West Virginia, camping, taking trips out to Sturgis every year, riding motorcycles, and hanging out with his friends. His favorite color was definitely purple and you would never see him without his Galliker's Chocolate Milk and Marlboro Reds. Todd is survived by two daughters: Tessa Tate of Bellefonte PA and Melinda Parson and her husband Timmy of Lewistown PA and one son, Alexander Tate of Bellefonte PA. Also surviving is one grandson Jordan Parson. He will be dearly missed by countless friends and his family. His absence in this world will be felt, but the richness with which he blessed our lives will never fade. She was born in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Whilhelmina Holmes and Charles Trumbull. She was married to Arthur Berkey of Ithaca, NY. Mary was a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School. She later enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1985 to 1986. She then worked for Cornell University as a support professional prior to gradua...ting from Corning Community College as a registered nurse. She was employed as a nurse by Saint Joseph’s medical center in Elmira, NY. In her spare time, she loved going for long walks, vacationing in Disney World, and spending time at home with her pets. She also loved cooking for family members on holidays. Donald A. Deibert, 77, of Danville, PA, passed away on Sunday October 4, 2020 at Grandview Nursing Home in Danville. He was born February 25, 1943 in Danville PA, the son of the late Edward and Evelyn Umstead Deibert. He is was preceded by the untimely death by his devoted wife Joan Reinhelder Deibert at the age of 53.. Don graduated from Danville High School.... He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways as a Bridge Inspector for many years, from where he retired. In previous years, he attended St. Paul’s Emmanuel United Methodist Church with his wife and son, Scott. Don was an avid genealogical fan spending long hours researching his family which he thoroughly enjoyed. He loved hunting, especially his yearly hunting trips to Colorado. His other enjoyments included model trains and reloading ammunition. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He is survived by his grandson, Joshua Deibert of Danville PA; one brother, William Deibert and his wife Jolene of Kulpmont PA and three great-grandchildren; Sierra Deibert Thomas and Blake and Cole Deibert. He is also survived by nieces and nephews including John Hummer, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Danville PA. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Scott Deibert on January 6, 1992; one grandson; Bryan Deibert on December 4, 2013; one sister, Lois Hummer and two brothers; Edward Deibert, Jr. and Wayne Deibert. Mary Jane Erdman, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2020. She resided at 101 Mateo Drive, Maria Joseph Manor, Danville for 14 years and more recently at Heritage Springs Memory Care in Lewisburg. Mary Jane was born on January 19, 1929, the daughter of the late William Edward Deiterick and Martha (Yost) Deiterick, of Bloomsburg Pa. After relocating to Washington D.C., Mary Jane graduated valedictorian from Anacostia High School, with magna cum laude honors. H...aving received three scholarships, she attended American University and George Washington University. Returning to central Pennsylvania, Mary Jane married Jim Erdman, a lifetime member of the Catawissa Reformed Church, in 1951. She went on to become a valued employee of Bloomsburg University, Geisinger Hospital as secretary to the comptroller, and spent 35 years of her professional life as the Executive Secretary to the President, Donald Seebold, of the First National Bank of Danville, retiring in 1994. Mary Jane and Jim traveled extensively including England, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Canada, Bermuda, Hawaii, Italy and Morocco. Their travels also included numerous cruises and road trips to Maine to visit their niece. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage before Jim passed away in 2006, at which point Mary Jane moved to a cottage at the Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community. Since then, her faithful Shish Tzu, Sasha, had been her constant companion. Volunteer work was always a part of Mary Jane’s life serving for the Girl Scouts, the Catawissa Eastern Star as an officer, a Sunday school teacher at the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grovania, the Geisinger Hospital, and the Maria Joseph Manor. Mary Jane will always be remembered as a confident woman with a quiet, unpresuming strength. She will be dearly missed by many who were very thankful for her presence in their lives and inspired by her example of being a lady. Mary Jane is survived by three nieces and three nephews: William Weller of Baltimore, Md., Phillip Weller of Valencia, Ca., Gordon Deiterick of New Cumberland, Pa., Mary Weller of Melbourne, Fl., Suzanne Stackhouse of New Berlin, Pa., and Patti Deiterick Cluff of North Berwick, Me. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Jack and Robert Deiterick, and one sister Kathryn Weller. A Celebration of her life will be held at graveside at Hillside Cemetery in Catawissa PA in the Spring.
