We are following the governor’s COVID-19 policies but feel it is better to lean towards caution for the safety of our employees and customers.

Why do we put a potato in the 2125 degree glass? In theory, and this is still questionable... the water in the potato creates super heated steam which bubbles up through the fresh batch of glass. It supposedly helps to pull out the remaining tiny bubbles in the batch. Therefore, the glass cooks out to an ultra pure, super clear batch with no bubbles, which is ideal for glassblowing. It’s just a theory, it may not work at all but it’s lots of fun to do.

Potato vs 2125 degrees of hot glass! Does anyone know why glassblowers do this?
