Heather Alexander Shares her YMCA Story: Upon moving to the Warren area in 2004, we quickly realized that the Warren YMCA was an integral part of the Warren c...ommunity. As a teacher who regularly goes to the Y, I have seen and continue to see countless students utilizing the YMCA's facility for sports, fitness, and as a safe gathering spot. Its value to our community is immeasurable. I am grateful it is available to provide a safe place for children and families to go while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Its staff is top-notch and clearly committed to its cause. More importantly, is the role the YMCA has played in my family's life. Personally, I use the YMCA for fitness purposes. Some of my very best friends have been made through working out and running. My four children have benefited each season from the sports offered; indoor soccer, outdoor soccer, basketball, gymnastics, etc. My older children are now participating in group fitness classes and using the workout rooms. One of the greatest things the YMCA has provided my family is childcare for my youngest two children. Their childcare program is top-notch providing not only a quality preschool education for my children, but also twice-weekly swimming lessons, gymnastics time, and lots of outdoor fun. I couldn't be any happier with the care my children received at the Y. Our town is truly blessed to have such a quality YMCA with an outstanding staff that truly cares about the people there. I appreciate all the programs offered for every age and hope to still be at the Y when I'm 99. Maybe even Tango-ing!
