Today we feature an all-new recording by the WSO Wind Trio, performing Medley including, O Mio Babbino Caro and Musetta’s Waltz as @WSO Italiano (Week 2) continues.
WSO Italiano (Week 2) features ALL NEW recordings from various WSO small ensembles. Tonight we share Tarantella," an upbeat whirling dance that originated in southern Italy, performed by the WSO String Quartet.
WSO Italiano (Week 2) will debut recordings from a few of our WSO small ensembles, starting tonight at 8 p.m.!
Our final archival recording and last release for @WSO Italiano (Week 1) features 2019 Young Artist Competition winner Maire Pasquinelli, performing Puccini's "O mio babbino caro" from Gianni Schicchi.
Like many music groups during the current pandemic, our musicians have resorted to "living-room-style" performances. Here is Matt Pienkowski, principal trumpet, performing a piece by Ennio Morricone - a nice connection to our WSO Italiano (Week 1) series, happening now.

To officially kick off our WSO Italiano (Week 1) programming, enjoy an Italian selection from our archives - Mascagni's "Intermezzo" from Cavalleria Rusticana. This recording is from the WSO's Carnegie Music Hall (Oakland) debut for the Willa Cather International Symposium in June 2017.
