You know the Conservancy works to restore and conserve local rivers and streams, but are you aware of the many ways that work is carried out? The Fall issue of Conserve magazine features articles about current projects including eDNA testing to detect hellbenders in streams, restoring streams from abandoned mine drainage, large wood stream restoration and more: bit.ly/37uTslK. #watershed

We recently conserved 173 forest and farmland acres in Ligonier Township, Westmoreland County, preventing further subdivision and limit development while allowing for sustainable farming. The property includes limited public access to frontage on Mill Creek, a cold water fishery that supports natural trout production. Our dedicated community forestry staff planted trees through TreeVitalize this past spring and summer. Due to COVID, we weren't able to engage volunteers, but with the help of our partners, we got 'em in! Now we're in the midst of fall plantings so local neighborhoods can enjoy the benefits of trees come spring 2021: bit.ly/31TqKaR. #waterlandlife #trees #treevitalize #conservation
