WASD Families: On Thursday, December 10, Governor Wolf issued additional mitigation orders due to the continuing substantial disease spread in Erie County. Looking at the District’s current rolling 14-day look back period, we are experiencing a dramatic increase in student and staff cases occurring in just the past few days with:... 5 Positive Cases. 3 Probable Cases. 15 students Awaiting Test Results; and 102 Students Quarantining. As a result, all schools will begin Remote Instruction Monday, December 14, 2020. Students will return to class on Monday, January 11, 2021. WAMS School Picture Day is scheduled for Monday, December 7th. This will be for all students, grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 as well as all District Cyber students. Copies of the picture order form were sent home with students on Thursday, December 3rd. Orders can be placed online at mylifetouch.com using the Picture Day ID: EVTBMZTHX (if you have already placed an order online for a previous picture date that was canceled, the order will still be available for December 7th) or by send...ing the completed paper order form with your student on picture day. If your student is participating in our District Cyber program and you would like their picture taken, you can bring your student to WAMS on picture day between the times of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm to be photographed. Report to the office when you enter the building. Picture Re-take day is now set for Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

Attention Winter Sport Athletes in grades 7-12 The official 1st day of Winter Sports in Friday, November 20th. You will not be able to participate if your paperwork has not been approved before then. Please do not wait until the day before to turn in paperwork and expect to play. If you did not play a Fall Sport this year, please turn in your physical packets to the High School Office by Monday, November 16th. ... If you played a Fall Sport, you will need to turn in the Recertification form to the High School Office by Monday, November 16th. Paperwork can be picked up from the High School Office. Physical Packets and Recertification Packets are available at the Wattsburg.org website under the Athletics tab in the Downloads section.
ATTENTION MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS/GUARDIANS: After consulting with the health department and conducting initial contact tracing, we will be closing the Middle School Monday, November 9th through Friday, November 20th. Students return to class on Monday, Nov. 23. ... We know that there are at least six (6) teachers involved in this close contact situation. If students are identified as a close contact, parents and guardians will be notified individually. Quarantining requirements for close contacts necessitate a 14-day period. Due primarily to a shortage of substitute teachers, we need to switch to remote instruction during this quarantine period. Refer to the website for remote learning expectations. Contact your child’s teacher via email with questions regarding assignments. The technology department is preparing mobile technology for all students. Technology pick up will be occur Monday, November 9 from 12-7 PM. If an alternative pick up time is needed, email: [email protected] Pick up will occur outside the main entrance of the middle school. All students will receive a laptop. Hotspots will be available for students that need one. All laptops should be brought back to school on Monday, Nov. 23. Hotspots are not to be returned for now. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we continue to work through these difficult times.

Girls Soccer Tickets Still Available I just received a call from Cambridge Springs stating that there will be about 120 tickets available at the gate for the game tomorrow. The game is at Saegertown High School starting at 12:00.

Any family who has children currently at home due to the WAEC closure, Covid quarantine, or because they are a cyber student: Free breakfast and lunches pre-ordered online will be available by curbside pickup at the bus entrance of the high school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mrs. Pinzok continued her tradition at the beginning of October to do the PUMPKIN RUN! Here is what she said about the event: The 2020 Pumpkin Run was such a success! We experienced new adventures and running through the woods proved to motivate my students to run faster and longer than ever. ... This event could not have been possible without the amazing help and support from our families and community. I even had the opportunity to make a few new friends along the way! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, this could not have ran so wonderfully without each and every one of you.
