Yesterday was National Pizza Day, so it seemed only fitting that we feature one of our favorite, local Pizza restaurants this week for our "Wednesday Window on Local." FACCIA LUNA in State College has phenomenal, wood-fired pizzas and so much more! One of our favorites is their Vodka pasta sauce on ANYTHING! Seafood dinner specials every weekend; mmmm, those crabcakes!! Fun fact: Farmer Jason & Megan lived in South Carolina and Maryland for a few years before returning to... farming, so seafood is a favorite and hard to find in landlocked PA. We are SO happy to have the snow back! Yes, it's pretty but more importantly it's warm. Not a typo; we said warm. Snow is like an insulating blanket for root systems in Winter and keeps them snug around 32 degrees in the ground rather than the often more frigid air temps. This is especially important for strawberry plants since they're very low to the ground. Snow is usually less destructive on tree branches than ice and easier to walk on than ice or mud when trimming outdoors in the orchards all Winter.
