With the warm weather soon to come, it is time to consider re-staining your log or wood sided home. Our system uses corn cob blasting and Perma-Chink finishing products. Corn media is environmentally safe and biodegradable and stain can be immediately applied. We also offer repair of damaged wood and applying chinking. Estimates are free with no obligation. Call 814-757-8822 to discuss your home project.
Corn Blasting quickly removes the existing finish off logs. It is gentle on the logs and doesn't harm window glass so no masking is needed. Since it is a dry and biodegradable product, staining can be done immediately with no need to neutralize the logs.
Boring bees can do thousands of dollars of damage to wood. They drill round holes into the wood and lays their eggs. Woodpeckers will find the eggs and excavate a horizontal pat to eat the eggs. We recently tried a method that claims if you hang a paper bag near where the bees drill, it will scare them away. The paper bag resembles a paper wasp nest that scares the bees away. It actually seems to work. When the bag was blown down, the bees returned quickly and vanished what the bag was put back in place. For the price of a paper bag, it is worth a try on your house. When we restain a house, the holes are filled and a bee repellent can be added to the stain.

Log homes aren't always properly cared for and the logs are left untreated. Over time, this can cause the logs to rot and results in a costly repair. Our corn blasting and re-staining systems can bring new life into a neglected log home, as seen below. The Perma-Chink products we use have a guarantee as long as five years (please see their website for details). We would be happy to come out and give you a free estimate to restore your log home and we can perform any repairs that might be needed.
Removing old stain from a log home is a long and tedious task for a homeowner. Many try pressure washing, chemical strippers, sanding, etc. and get mediocre results. We have gone back and corn blasted houses that the owners tried to finish on their own. Some customers think that professional blasting is too expensive, but they are willing to spend the time and money to try it on their own and not get the expected results. Our customers have been very happy with the end prod...uct when we have blasted and stained their homes. Most think it turned out far better then they had hoped. We use a Perma-Chink system that provides a quality, long lasting finish, available in many colors. In the long run, you will be saving money to have us blast and stain your home. Not only does it enhance the value but protects the wood. You have bought a log home because of its appealing look, you also need to ensure that it stays that way. We are booking spring/summer blasting dates now. We will visit your home to insure that we can give you true estimate for the -work and will schedule a time that is convenient for you to blast. Please call to find out more: 814-757-8822.
