Two cast members----one male and one female ----may be nominated by the WA production staff to participate in the Finale Production number for the Gene Kelly Awards Ceremony to be held on Saturday, May 25, at 7:30 PM along with two students from all participating schools. The two students from each of the participating schools must attend all four scheduled rehearsals in order to perform----Monday through Thursday, May 20, 21, 22 & 23, from 5-8 PM----with no exceptions and no... excused absences. According to the attendance policy set by the GKA staff, students who miss a rehearsal will be removed from the blocking and not permitted to participate further, even if the absence occurs on the last rehearsal after attending the first three. The Gene Kelly Awards Choreographer and Musical Director will make final approvals and decisions concerning participation. Students will perform in their own school's musical performance costume. Vaughn Camarda and Marina Lauff did a great job on stage representing WA in last year's finale production number. It was well choreographed, showcased each school for a moment within the song, and was received with a standing ovation. All rehearsals will take place at the Pittsburgh CLO Academy on Penn Avenue & CLO Academy Way, Downtown. Transportation to and from rehearsals is the responsibility of the student and cannot be provided by WA. Participants are to use the CLO Academy Way entrance located in the alley of the Highmark/Rite Aid Drug Store Building. Parking will be available at the Sixth and Penn Avenue garage. Parking tickets can be validated at the Academy to reduce the parking cost to $3.00. As mentioned, WA can nominate up to two cast members, one male and one female. If interested and available, please submit our attached Interest Form to Mrs. Bruno or Mr. Snyder as soon as possible, no later than the end of the dress rehearsal tomorrow, Thursday, April 4. Before submitting this form, please check your personal, school and family schedule to ensure that the four rehearsal dates/times are clear and permit participating. Note that, due to time constraints, forms submitted to us late cannot be considered.

BAKED GOODS NEEDED FOR FOOD CONCESSIONS A popular annual aspect of our food concessions is a bake sale---a perfect treat for a mid-evening snack at intermission. We ask each cast member to donate a minimum of one dozen cookies or brownies. With a smaller cast this year, we're just asking parents or cast members can bring the baked goods to the concessions table in the lobby upon arrival on Opening Night this Friday, April 5.

Rehearsal scheduled for today, Wednesday, March 6, has been changed to an ALL CALL and extended from 6-9 PM to 3-9 PM with a dinner break from 5:30-6 PM. This will best permit the staff to block scenes and choreography that was missed tonight and keep the production calendar on schedule. Please make every effort to attend. Your flexibility and understanding amidst western PA's inevitable weather challenges is essential and certainly appreciated. Students in MS Show Choir are to go over to the HS after rehearsal is finished at the middle school. Students in HS Percussion Ensemble are to attend musical rehearsal until 5:30 then attend the scheduled Percussion Ensemble rehearsals.

Given the projected inclement weather, musical rehearsal scheduled for tonight has been canceled. The National Weather Service in Pgh has downgraded projected conditions from an Advisory to an official Winter Storm Warning with the weather event beginning at 6 PM as a wintry mix of rain and snow. Set building is on as scheduled, but from 3-7 PM.

Important information regarding doors for evening/weekend rehearsals: Access into the high school building following the academic day has been changed. Beginning immediately, building access will be gained only through the main Gymnasium doors. This includes all school and community sponsored athletics, booster meetings, arts rehearsals (band, chorus, drama, musical theatre, etc.), or other building use after school and weekends. Any arts student or parent wishing to enter... the building must go through the main Gymnasium doors and then proceed to the auditorium or any other part of the performing arts area of the high school. Those using the auditorium are not to enter the lobby through the auditorium doors, as the two sets of hallway doors leading to the lobby area will also be locked. The main Front Doors of the building will only be open for a performance or other event in the Auditorium. Overall, this is for the security of the building and those that occupy it for their functions and needs. We ask for your patience and cooperation during this period of transition.
