West Creek Rail Trail

Old Man Winter and his gusty winds have brought down several trees across the trail in the Cameron County area between Truman and Emporium. Please be patient as volunteers will clean up the debris as soon as possible.

You can do more than bike, hike, ski or snow mobile on the trail. Mark Johnson shared this... Yesterday saw 48 species of birds on the West Creek Trail, Ten species of warblers. Lincoln's, Swamp, and Song Sparrows all in one glass! Migrants are really peaking. If anyone wants to join, will be birding these two places next:... Next Saturday September 26 a gravel bike competition will be held from Emporium to Truman. The race starts at 9.

Emporium State Police reporting a bike was found on the trail near the West Creek Road bench. If it is yours you can claim it at the barracks.

When riding the trail be sure to have your dogs on a leash. This is to protect not only other users but also your pets. We have had reports of people seeing wild slithery animals on the trail!

This weekend schuylkill river runners will be hosting several races on the trail. On Friday a truck will be used to mark the distances for the 5k, 10k and half marathon races. All races start and stop in Emporium where the trail intersects with Chestnut Street. The 5k and 10k races will begin Saturday night at 6pm. The half marathon will be run Sunday morning at 7am. The trail will be open for public use during this time. In addition there is a free outdoor concert in downtown Emporium starting at 8pm with Bryan Titus playing and again Sunday afternoon.
