Report of Activities for November, 2020: From November 1 - 30, 2020, the West Salem Fire Department was dispatched to the following: 1 Automatic Fire Alarm ... 7 Mutual Aid To Other Departments 5 Medical Calls 6 Poles and Wires Down Calls 1 Auto Accident 2 Brush Fires This resulted in 25.6 hours of apparatus time and 50.1 man-hours expended on responses. There were 14 hours of training and members spent 77 hours on station/ administrative duties. In November the department learned that it received two Covid grants to help alleviate finacial burdens brought on by the restrictions put in place. It also received a State Forestry grant to purchase radio and wildfire equipment. We were notified that two Federal Assistance To Firefighter grants applications were denied. These grants sought federal monies to replace a 32 year old pumper and also aging protective clothing firefighters need to keep them safe while fighting fires.
