It is with a heavy heart that West Deer EMS must announce the passing of board member Tony Filotei. Tony has been an active member of West Deer EMS for over 30 years. Originally an operations volunteer, Tony then joined the board of directors and is the longest acting member. Tony has been involved in many of the major decisions that have helped shape West Deer EMS for the past 30 years. Godspeed, Tony. Employee Tribute to Supervisor Shawn Maudhuit: The past and present employees and volunteers of West Deer Township would like to express our most heartfelt cond...olences to the family and friends of Supervisor Shawn Maudhuit, who passed on early Sunday morning. No one at the Township building can recall anyone saying anything negative about Shawn. He would adamantly say I’m not a politician, and would follow that statement with proof time and time again (and usually in a very humorous way)! He brought smiles to our faces, spoke from the heart, stood for others who had no voice, and was always willing be there for others when they needed him. He did not serve the residents for personal gain. He served because he had a beautiful, caring heart and he wanted to. Shawn, you will be sorely missed.

In Memoriam Supervisor Shawn Maudhuit It is with a heavy heart we mourn the loss of our dear friend and fellow Supervisor, Shawn Maudhuit. Shawn passed away un...expectedly on Sunday at the age of 50. Shawn was born and raised in West Deer and had dedicated so much of his life to his community. Known for putting a smile on everyone’s face once he entered a room, Shawn took that same attitude and approach when planning Parks and Recreation events as his first foray into Township matters. He was appointed Chairman of the Parks and Recreation Board and was an integral part of the team that organized Community Days after years of not having it. He played a hand in organizing one of our most popular Parks and Recreation events with 80s in the Park as he was also the founder and leader of Ferris Bueller’s Revenge that performed at the event. Every October, each family in West Deer would be excited to walk through the Haunted House in Bairdford Park that Shawn had spent a so much of his time putting together. As a Supervisor, Shawn was determined to continue making a positive impact. He took the trust that the community had placed in him seriously and was consistently proud to represent West Deer. He is, and will be, dearly missed. We are all honored to have had the opportunity to work with and grow a great friendship with Shawn. We recognize that he accomplished his main goal as Supervisor, which was to leave his community in a better place. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Maudhuit family and their loved ones during this difficult time. On behalf of the Township, we send our sincere condolences to them all.
