This is a rare 1/144 scale model of Omega, a solid fuel launch vehicle with a liquid fuel (hydrogen & oxygen) upper stage. It was designed to launch military payloads, (reconnaissance, ferret, communications, and weather). Development was begun under Orbital ATK, but it moved to Northrop Grumman when that company acquired Orbital ATK. It seemed a promising design but work seems to have been terminated.

This is what Jeff Bezos is spending all that money I send to Amazon on - New Glenn. It is to stand 322 feet tall (close to the height of the Saturn V sans Apollo’s escape tower), and will be able to place a fifty ton payload in low Earth orbit. It is a two stage vehicle (though it could mount a third stage if needed). The first stage is to be recoverable and is powered by liquid methane and liquid oxygen. The second stage is a high energy liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen combination. The launcher is named in honor of John Glenn, the decorated combat veteran of two wars, test pilot, multiple world record holder, first American in orbit, oldest person to fly into space, and United States Senator.
