We are so excited to be adding SENECA SUNRISE COFFEE to our coffee choices at the Bakery. We presently serve two local coffees, East Indies Coffee & Teas & Ancestor Coffeehouse and Crêperie. As many of you know WE LOVE WATKINS GLEN, NY - our favorite getaway. We were so excited to find Seneca Sunrise Coffee. We met with the owners who have a little shop with locally sourced products and coffee beans they roast. We love that they are small and GROWING. We also love that their beans are organic and fair trade. So, stop in and let us know what you think of our additional coffee option - FLX MORNING Breakfast Blend. HOURS - Thurs-Fri, 7-11am, Sat., 8am-Noon

COOKIES, COFFEE & COMMUNITY - OUR 1st PORCH TALK ~ This past Friday a newer regular stepped inside the Bakery. I had not formally introduced myself or asked his name but Friday was the day. His name is Frank. I committed to remembering his name (I’m terrible with names). He bought his coffee and a baked good and headed out to the porch to sit on his porch bench - he sits there rain or shine. I thought a photo of Frank on his bench on our porch would be a nice photo for our... Facebook page. I asked and he obliged. I loved the photo. I felt the photo needed a story - his story. When he walked in Saturday I proudly and rather loudly, said, Good morning Frank. He smiled and said, Good morning Becky. Our porch friendship was about to begin. I followed Frank (sounds creepy now when I put it in writing), out the door to our Bakery Porch. He sat down on his bench. I sat down on the other bench and pulled out my little piece of paper and my pen and asked if we could talk - like people used to when we sat on our porches. He smiled and his blue eyes lit up a bit, he said yes and we began. Frank is from Northern Ireland where he lived until he headed to England at the age of 17 with his 18 year old friend. He said there was plenty of work in Ireland, 7 days a week worth, but not work you would get paid for. He shared his mother’s heartache when he left and how his father was a wise man, knowing the limitations for his son if he stayed and the risk of being caught up in the turmoil happening in Northern Ireland. He lived in England for 20 years doing construction work. In 1990 he decided to visit an Aunt and Uncle living in New York City. His Uncle had cancer and died 6 months after his arrival. He ended up staying with his Aunt until she passed away in 2020. In New York his construction career continued - working for NYC Transit. Frank always loved the area in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. On one of his trips he wandered into Lebanon County and found a house he loved and luckily for us he wandered into our little bakery and lives. A huge THANK YOU to Frank for the opportunity to be the first to share a little bit of his story. We know there is so much more and we look forward to more chats on our porch. See more

A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best FEDEX Delivery Guy EVER! Brice celebrated his birthday on Monday, December 28. We thought you might like to know so you can wish him belated birthday wishes! We didn’t know it was his birthday so no time to wrap his chocolate covered peanut butter balls! He’s not on Facebook so you’ll have to catch him when he stops by with a delivery.

HAPPY 2021 - THIS YEAR I’M MAKING THE RULES! After a year filled with uncertainty, sadness, and social distancing. Feeling guilt and feeling exhaustion on a level we didn’t know existed. A year I realized how much I miss sounds - mostly the sounds of people gathering. And the big one - not hugging, I have decided in 2021 - I’m making the rules. 2020 was a year none of us could have imagined and a year we seemed to run in circles while we waited and hoped for someone or som...ething to save us. We had the madness of constant news of opinions rather than having a source of facts, leaving us confused and often angry, while sometimes aggressively defending the news we chose to believe. Let’s throw in a presidential election, social media, racism, and a few other things sprinkled in between and POOF I was the recipient of a front row seat of seeing anger and sadness on a daily basis - often with the ability to ruin friendships. So 2021 chill out! You are not in charge of my life - I am! I am going to continue to strive for and produce more laughter. I am going to do my part to stay healthy and keep others safe and healthy. I am not going to push my beliefs or my ability (or inability) to survive each day on others. I am going to work hard and be thankful that I have 2 jobs. I will continue to give back to others when I can because I never want to take for granted the blessings I’ve had in my life. I will continue to bake massive amounts of chocolate chip cookies (because they’re my favorite) and dip amazing peanut butter balls in dark chocolate because both of these things truly do make the world a better place. My main goal on my list for 2021 will be LOVE. As hokey as it sounds 2020 has taught me some things I am not sure I would have learned had I not lived through this year. The Importance of touch, of not leaving things unsaid to those we love. The ability to savor moment’s that I probably would have taken for granted in 2019. To reach out to others. To not judge. To pray more. I have learned LOVE is what I need most in my life. It is what lifts me up when I’m on my knees. It is the hugs I get in my memories when I’m alone. It gives me hope when I think there is none. It is the one thing 2020 could not take from me. So I have decided IN 2021 ~ I WILL LOVE! See more
