The procession is now starting

Borough Residents: There will be a funeral procession on Sunday starting at 11am for Gary Shupp, retired Police Chief of White Haven to include his family. The procession will start at the White Haven Methodist Church a little after 11am and go down Buffalo street passed the Fire House. The police cars will make a left on Towanda and turn down on Main street as the rest of the procession turns Right and waits at Berwick Street. The police will take a moment passing the ...borough building and police station and then turn right on to Berwick to join with the rest of the procession. They will then proceed up Berwick Street, turning left on Church street (940) turning left on to Northumberland Street turning right on Towanda to pass the Ambulance Building for a moment there and then proceed up Towanda Street making a right on Erie Street. The procession will the take Erie to the end and make a Left on to Church Street turning left again on Lehigh street. The procession will end at the Lehigh Park. The family will then head to Mountain Top to the McCune Funeral home to see visitors at 1pm with a final service at 4pm. We appreciate any residents who would like to come out on their porches and say a final fair well and support Gary’s family thru this time of grief.

Please note more details will follow as the family will be coming to the borough on Sunday morning for the "final tour of duty". We will share the route so those of you unable to attend services can come out and say good bye as Gary patrols our streets one last time.

On behalf of the White Haven Police Department we are sorry to share the news of the Passing of Retired Police Chief Gary Shupp. As many of you already know Gary worked as an officer in the borough, as well as volunteering with both the Fire Company and the ambulance over the years. We will miss him greatly and send our thoughts and prayers to his family.

Last night at 1am three female juveniles were seen fleeing on foot in the area Lehigh Street from stealing signs out of a residents yard. The police have obtained some camera footage of the teens and are looking to see if anyone has and additional cameras in the area that may have caught the theft as well. If you can assist us please call the station at 570-443-8888.

Traffic advisory Sunday from 7am to 9am Susquehanna st will be close to vehicles from Towanda street to Main Street and Northumberland will be closed from Towanda street to Main Street The runnegades race will depart from the library and run the length of Main Street down into the trail. There will police out to direct traffic and no cars will be permitted to travel this area while the pedestrians are running. Once they have departed the area we will reopen roads. ... Please plan accordingly to avoid this area Sunday Morning.
