Wilmerding Volunteer Fire Department 01.02.2021

It’s been a while since our last post. So why not share some photos of the Engine Company at a fire in Braddock on 02/01/2021. The Engine Company responded with both engines to assist Rivers Edge VFD with a fire in a vacant apartment building. Crews helped with suppression efforts and some overhaul. Shout out to #FirstDuePhotography for the pictures. #WilmerdingFire #KeepersOfTheCastle

Attention Wilmerding residents!!! One of Santa’s elves just called the station to tell us that Santa will be in town tomorrow! Starting at 6:30pm tomorrow evening, Santa will be aboard the fire engine riding around to visit all the boys and girls! Be sure to keep an eye out for the lights and listen for the sirens! #wilmerdingfire #keepersofthecastle #santaclauseiscomingtotown

Check out this piece of Wilmerding history! Our old GMC squad car sporting our old colors! This was recently discovered on eBay! Another awesome Wilmerding apparatus up for grabs. We hope the new owner enjoys it as much as we did! #wilmerdingfire #keepersofthecastle

PSA: The WVFD and Turtle Creek VFD are out on multiple calls in both towns. 1) Wires on fire on McMasters in TC. 2) 500 Block of Middle for a possible transformer explosion. 3) Laurel Square/Caldwell Ave/Station St for possible transformer explosion with wires down and across vehicles. 4) 600 Block of George St in Wilmerding for a gas leak outside.... DLCo has been notified and is aware of the calls for McMasters and Middle and they currently have someone working at Caldwell/Station. People’s Natural Gas was notified and are aware of the gas leak. Please avoid traveling the rest of the night as DPW are still working hard to clear the road ways. If you do travel please avoid the areas listed above, especially George/Caldwell/Station as 2 of the calls are near one another. If you would like to keep updated with what’s happening locally, you can download the App PulsePoint and continue to check our Facebook page and Instagram page for other information. Thank you and Stay Safe!

The Engine Company went to work on 11/23/20 in East Pittsburgh. Crews from Rivers Edge and multiple other departments arrived to heavy fire conditions in an apartment building. With fire showing on both floors from multiple windows, the assignment was quickly upgraded to a second alarm assignment by command. Both Engines staffed with 11 members arrived on scene and performed a variety of tasks ranging from overhaul to establishing additional lines on the outside for suppression. Good work to all the companies on scene and a special thanks to the Fire Department of Duquesne for providing coverage while we were out. #wilmerdingfire #keepersofthecastle
