Parents: Sometimes we have to use "tough love" to keep our kids focused on their education. Do you have an Xbox, Playstation, or Switch in your home? Friendly Tip! Consider using family features to restrict when and how long your child can play - specifically during school hours (wink wink) Xbox owners: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/apps/family-settings-app ,PlayStation owners: https://www.playstation.com//playstation-family-account-s/ ,Nintendo Switch owners: https://www.nintendo.com/switch/parental-controls/
Progress Reports for Middle & High School have been distributed in Alma and email. The District encourages parents/guardians to take an active role in their child’s education and review academic progress regularly. To help with this goal, please check out the suggestions here: https://www.wasd.school/article/363389
Message from the Superintendent to WASD Community: I am alerting all of you that a District staff member and a student have tested positive for COVID-19. The cases are not related. Fortunately, the staff member and student were aware of possible exposure and initiated self-quarantine in advance of the diagnosis. The staff member and student will continue to follow all necessary health protocols as required by the District and the Department of Health. The PA Dept. of Health will contact anyone who may have been exposed for a length of time to be considered a contact. Thank you, Jeffrey Matty Ed.D

The PA Dept. of Health (DOH), in coordination with the Dept. of Ed. (DOE), has issued a recommendation to all schools in Lawrence County with respect to each schools’ instruction model instituted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The recommendation relies on two standard public health metrics: incidence rate and the percent positivity of diagnostic testing. These metrics are available for every county in Pennsylvania on the COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard (htt...ps://www.health.pa.gov//coronavirus/Pages/Monitoring-Da) At this time, based upon increased transmissions within the County it is the recommendation of the DOH and DOE that the County Schools proceed with a full remote learning model. As a result, the Wilmington Area School District grades K-12 will begin full virtual instruction Wednesday, November 4, 2020, and continue through Friday, November 13, 2020. The District will continue to monitor the information disseminated by the DOH and DOE and will notify families as soon as possible for the week of November 16, 2020.
