The West York Borough Police are actively investigating a Rape that occurred on the Borough’s North Side Tuesday morning. We are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect. At roughly 6:00 a.m. a female resident awoke to find a male suspect in her residence. Armed with a knife, the suspect threatened her and raped her. She was treated by specially trained forensic nurses at York Hospital. Police were able to establish that prior to breaking into her residence, t...he same suspect had attempted to gain entry into at least one other Borough residence approx. hour before, where he was chased away by an occupant of the home. We believe that this suspect targeted these residences, however are unable to establish any connection to the occupants of these homes, as they do not know him. We are asking the assistance of the public in helping to identify him. The suspect is a Hispanic male (believed to be Mexican specifically), ranging in age from early 20’s to mid 30’s, possibly with facial stubble. He has a thin to average build and is approximately 5’10 to 6’0 tall. He was wearing a bright orange hooded sweatshirt with wording that contains the word York on it, and was last seen walking eastbound into York City on W. Princess St. from Richland Ave. Our #1 priority is getting him off of the street! If you recognize this individual, please contact the West York Police immediately at (717) 854-1975. You may also contact us via Facebook Messenger or CrimeWatch (where you can leave anonymous tips). If you have concerns about suspicious activity or individuals, please contact 911. We want to remind everyone to always lock your doors, windows, and car doors. Maintain awareness of your surroundings, be careful of what information you share on Social Media, and to be proactive in your personal security. Most importantly, look out for your neighbors and each other - if you see something, say something!
