While our public works contractors have been doing a great job ensuring roads remain passable, the temporary Emergent NO PARKING order along East Afton Ave and South Main Street remains in full effect. We thank you for your cooperation thus far and and ask for your continued patience with keeping vehicles removed from all streets where possible and not traveling for non-essential reasons. TEMPORARY PARKING RESTRICTIONS : There is a winter storm foretasted to begin Sunday, January 31 which is expected to bring snow through the afternoon, evening and following day. Real time weather projections can be viewed at: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php... As a result of these snow projections, the Yardley Borough Police Department will implement a temporary Emergent NO PARKING order along East Afton Ave and South Main Street beginning at 4 PM on Sun., January 31, 2021. These parking restrictions will be posted with the below sign, enforced by police officers and will assist with expediting snow removal. We also ask that where possible vehicles be removed from all streets and that during the storm non-essential traffic is restricted. GIFT OF COMPASSION: Earlier today Chief Kelly and Ofc. Kulchinsky accepted a donation of ‘comfort blankets’ from area resident Barbara Veil. Ms. Veil stitched the blankets at home with materials purchased at a local sale. The blankets were stitched with the intent of bringing comfort to a child and the hope is they will never be needed. The blankets will be sealed and added to the marked police units. ... Our thanks to Ms. Veil for the donation and for the visit.

COMMUNITY APPRECIATION: This afternoon we were visited by Colleen from Starbucks who surprised us with a poster signed by their customers, PPE items, coffee/treats as well as a gift card from an anonymous customer for on-duty officers to get coffee. We are appreciative of Starbucks and their great customers for their generosity and continued support of our mission.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH - 2020 PETAL IT FORWARD AREA OF MAIN ST. & AFTON AV. Earlier this afternoon members of the Yardley Borough Police Department partnered with Ye Olde Yardley Florist for the annual National Petal it Forward Event.... Yardley Boro Officers, Auxiliary Officers and our Police Intern handed complimentary pairs of flowers to motorists and pedestrians as they passed through the center of town. The recipients were asked to #petalitforward by giving one of the two to someone else. It was great meeting and speaking with so many folks in the community and we again look forward to next year.

Ms. Arata is a lifelong Yardley Borough resident who celebrated her 74th year as a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6393 Auxiliary. POLICE BLOTTER ARRESTS: DATE & TIME: Tuesday, 09.15.2020 3:47 AM LOCATION: ... 40 Block of South Main Street CHARGES: Open Warrant - Philadelphia DETAILS: A YBPD officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving at extremely low speed with 4 way flashers on. A query of the plate revealed the owner was wanted out of Philadelphia for assault. As a result, a male, age 32, from Philadelphia, PA was arrested, processed and turned over to the custody of the Philadelphia Police Department. DATE & TIME: Tuesday, 09.15.2020 9:30 AM LOCATION: Police HQ, S. Main St. CHARGES: Open Warrant Ethnic Intimidation, Harassment and Terroristic Threats DETAILS: On 9-9, 2020, the YBPD obtained a warrant for the suspect in a telephonic threats case. On 9-15-20 the suspect surrendered himself and was arrested. The 60 year old male from Allentown, PA, was processed, arraigned and released on unsecure bail. The matter is pending court. DATE & TIME: Saturday, 09.12.2020 8:03 PM LOCATION: North Main Street at Irving Sts. CHARGES: Speeding and Drug/Paraphernalia Possession DETAILS: A YBPD officer conducting speed enforcement at N. Main & Irving Sts. observed a vehicle traveling 49.5 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. During the stop, suspected marijuana and paraphernalia were discovered in the vehicle. A male, age 20, from Hamilton Twp., NJ, was arrested, charged with speeding and misdemeanor drug offenses, and released. The matter is pending court.
