Yoga With Sheila

Well since we have no space to practice I will be canceling outdoor tomorrow Sunday December 20th. Reeves Park-canopy collapsed from the snow. Reservoir Park is filled with snow and the gazebo has a sheet of ice. I went over there today to check it out and even thought about using the parking lot lol. Just doesn't seem safe to have it anywhere. Very bummed but, I will keep you posted for next week options. ... There is always zoom on Tuesdays 4:30pm.Please stay safe and healthy. --

Hello my little yoga family. It is with a very anxious heart that I want to let you all know I will be having hip replacement surgery January 5th. This was a decision I did not take lightly and is happening a loooooot sooner than I had planned. I have had hip pain for about 15 years due to an incredible dance career that I would NEVER take back. Dancing in heels, leaping more times than I could ever count, traveling for years-dance created a life of joy and adventure that was... truly worth it. But as my husband tells me your body has been so good to you, now it’s time to take care of your body. Yoga, anti inflammatory eating, and supplements have saved me for years but, it’s time. There will never be the perfect time to do this-but now seems as perfect as possible. With covid and winter seems like a good time to hibernate and heal. That being said-my surgeon knows I love teaching yoga and have 2 retreats coming up. He feels I will be good to talk teach yoga-not demonstrate in 8 weeks and teach yoga-demonstrate in 12 weeks. This will give me something to look forward to and work hard for. I am looking for feedback on 2 issues: 1-has anyone else had this surgery? Thoughts? 2-I am all for using a sub until I am good to teach on my own. This would be for when we are allowed back indoors or when weather permits us to be outside. Is this something you as a customer would like or do you want to wait until I'm good to go? I am very very nervous and down right scared for the surgery but, using my meditation to help calm the mind. I will be teaching up until surgery so 2 more weeks. I will stay in touch with occasional videos and a lot of posts. I really hope you stick with me. You have no idea how much I will miss seeing your faces and feeling your energy. It gets me thru in more ways than you will ever know. I look forward to hearing back. I am not going anywhere-I am simply taking time to heal!! Sheila

Thursday December 17th-weather is calling for snow and temp in the 20's so looks like a no for this week. Sunday December 20th 10am @ Reservoir Park-too soon to call but looks like rain and cold-I'll let you know the final call on Saturday... So, feel free to jump on Tuesday Zoom. I will bring my 2 heaters in hopes of getting some warmth-no guarantees. Bring your cozy blanket/socks/sweater for savasana. Hope to see you there. $10 donation suggested.
