Penningtonville Presbyterian Church Youth Group 06.02.2021

Who's feeling a little stressed? All youth ages 7th - 12th grade are invited to join us over the coming year to talk about stress and God. We will be learning about what God has to say about stress and ways that we can alleviate some of our own stress (fun ways ). We will also be working together to support local agencies in need. Of course, we will have lots of food, fellowship, and games. We ask that you bring a packed lunch, drink, mask, Bible, pen/pencil, and God-loving spirit to church Sunday, October 25. We will meet socially distanced from 11:30 - 1:30. Hope to see you there!

Today the youth got back into James with 4:1-12. Together we talked about how being placed in a tough spot doesn’t mean that God isn’t working. Challenges are gifts from God after all! We live in a society that emphasizes happiness, but God has created so many other emotions for us to feel. It’s important that we allow ourselves to feel emotions other than happiness, so that we can develop a more full relationship with Him. Today, the youth did a series of challenging activ...ities, one of which was the human knot. They worked together to untangle themselves into a circle. It’s activities like these that help us to remember that each step in the process has significant meaning towards the end goal. Over the next two weeks, take time to settle into all the emotions that God has in store. Reach out to Him not just in the happy moments, but in all the other ones as well.

Wow! What a night of holiday music at Octorara! Many of our youth group members showed their talents last night. From the chorus to the concert band to the jazz band to the Dixie band, there was so much talent to be seen and heard. Thankful to have a group that is talented in many diverse ways. Great job all!

After we read James 3:13-18 for this week, we discussed trusting God. It can be so incredibly hard to let go of our own control and let God take control. But if we think about it, that’s so dumb! God is the best possible being to have total control over our lives. Together, we walked through an imaginative prayer activity that reminded us of God’s caring presence with us wherever we go. We refocused on Christ. How can we be wise if we don’t let Christ be in control of our lives? Over the next two weeks, think of these words from It Is Well by Bethel Music & Kristene DiMarco, Let go my soul and trust in Him.
