Today's A Mighty Girl Community Pick: "Girls Who Build: Inspiring Curiosity and Confidence to Make Anything Possible." This new guide celebrates the can-do atti...tude of fierce girls who know how to wield a hammer, fire up a saw, and build everything from a bookshelf to a playhouse! After being the only woman on countless construction sites, carpenter Katie Hughes decided to get more girls excited about building. She started teaching classes for pre-teen girls, showing them how to drill, saw, and weld, and eventually founded her own non-profit organization, Girls Build. Now, in this colorful, photo-filled guide, Hughes features pictures and stories from 45 of her Girls Build alumni, with each girl sharing what she loves about building, what inspires her to keep creating, and what advice she'd have for other budding girl builders. The guide is also packed with tool guides, building tips, and safety techniques, as well as a list of 13 projects to give girls an easy way to get started. This empowering book is sure to inspire young DIY-ers to pick up their tools and build something great! Highly recommended for ages 8 to 13. "Girls Who Build" is available at https://www.amightygirl.com/girls-who-build For an excellent guide for teen girls (and adult women), we recommend "Girls Garage: How to Use Any Tool" - filled with 175 illustrated tool guides - for ages 13 and up at https://www.amightygirl.com/girls-garage To get your Mighty Girl started on real-life building, we recommend the Build-Your-Own Wooden Birdhouse for ages 4 and up (https://www.amightygirl.com/created-by-me-birdhouse), the Craftsman Kids 8-Piece Tool Set for ages 7 to 12 (https://www.amightygirl.com/craftsman-junior-tool), and a 3-Pocket Tool Belt for ages 10 and up (https://www.amightygirl.com/3-pocket-tool-belt) And, to encourage your Mighty Girl's interest in using tools and building at every age, visit our blog post "She Can Build It! Books, Building Toys, and Tool Sets to Encourage DIY-Loving Mighty Girls" at https://www.amightygirl.com/blog?p=28250

We are asking our Facebook Followers and their followers to help us spread the word about their monthly "Wish List". Our small, but mighty group of Zontians wish everyone a very Happy New Year! We're proud that in 2021 we were able to present scholarships to a female student volunteer from every school district in Washington County, supported the Washington Teen Outreach center and raised over $3300 for the American Cancer Society to support female researchers. The Covid-19 pandemic may have kept us apart, but it didn't stop us from the service we're committed to!
